    She is survived by her children, Sara (Richard) Buscher, Appleton; John (Jane) Burke, Rio Rancho, N.M.; Carol (Tim) Buss, Freedom; and Rob Burke, Appleton; four grandchildren, Melissa (Drew) Rozdilsky and Cody Buss; Samantha and Paige Burke; two great-grandchildren, Graham and Evan Rozdilsky; and her sister, Joan Hunter, Kaukauna. Mary is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund J. Burke; brothers, Clarence (Verona) Hartzheim and Floyd (Anita) Hartzheim; a sister, Rita (Vic) Radloff; as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Caroline (Joe) Caze, Alice (Ray) Parsons, Jeanette (Sam) Casey, Mildred (Leo) Spindler, Jack (Sally) Burke, Margaret (Nick) Verhagen and Agnes (Ves) Van Domelen.

    The funeral liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at ST. THERESE CATHOLIC CHURCH, Morrison Street and Wisconsin Avenue. Fr. William Hoffman will be officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends at church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.

    Verhagen, Delaphine C. "Del" Delaphine C. "Del" nee Lom Verhagen, 93, Little Chute, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006 at Parkside Care Center, Little Chute. She was born Nov. 25, 1912 daughter of Peter and Anna (Hooyman) Lom. Delaphine married Walter J. Verhagen and he preceded her in death May 4, 1971. Mrs. Verhagen was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute and the St. Elizabeth Society. For the past 35 years Del was the cook for various clergy at St. John Nepomucene, concluding with Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen. She enjoyed crocheting and making afghans, especially for the clergy at her church. Del also enjoyed crossword puzzles and her family cottage at Lake Helen in Rosholt. Del is survived by her children, Jim (Myra) Verhagen, Lakewood; Grace (Carl) Fiestedt, Greenville; Eugene F. (Sandy) Verhagen, Kaukauna; Douglas Verhagen, Appleton; son-in-law, Marcellus "Dumps" (Mary) Van Gompel, Keshena; daughter-in-law, Fran Verhagen, Little Chute; 17 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Evelyn Lom, Appleton; two half brothers and one half sister; nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Anna Lom; her step mother, Nell Lom; daughter, June Van Gompel; sons, Joseph Verhagen and Walter Verhagen, Jr.; brothers, John, Wilbert, Edmund and Herbert Lom; sisters, Mary Stephani and Natalie Versch; a half sister; brothers-in-law, Lewis, Nick and Peter Verhagen; sisters-in-law: Mayme De Coster, Margaret Vanden Heuvel, Matilda Oudenhoven, Josephine Wyro and Dora Hooyman. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2006 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute with Revs. Richard Klingeisen and Patrick Beno officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. Monday until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established. Survivors include three daughters and sons in law, Dorothy and William Henn, Appleton, Delores and Larry Peters, Beverly and Bob Liederbach, all of Milwaukee, two sons and a daughter in law, Eugene and Pat Pennings, Vista, Calif., Thomas Caze, Milwaukee, two brothers, three sisters, 21 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband's, a son, Francis Caze, her parents, and two sisters. The complete funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. from the Valley Funeral Home, with Reverend Michael O. Rourke officiating,. Burial will be in Combined Locks. Friends may call at the Valley funeral home from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of service.

    Pennings, Walter Mathias 1927 Appleton Post Crescent dated 7/8/1927; Locktender drowns in Kaukauna Canal - Body of Walter Pennings is recovered an hour after he fell in water - Kaukauna - Walter Pennings, 27, locktender here was drowned at 10:30 Tuesday evening when he walked into the Fox River at the approach of the fourth lock. Mr. Pennings was on his way to open the second lock about a quarter mile west of the fourth lock and because of wet grass, he walked along the stones along the Canal bank. Mr. Pennings stopped at te lock tender's house at the fourth lock to turn on the lights which are located at each lock but there are none in between. He continued his walk along the canal bank and is believed to have fallen in the river about 30 feet from the house where the canal widens and the bank turns sharply to the right. Walter Ritten who helped Mr. Pennings at the fourth lock heard a call for help but when he reached th ebank it was so extremely dark that he could only see where the body had gone down. Mr. Pennings cap was floating in the water. A number of men worked with pikes poles and grappling hooks and the body was recovered at about 11;15 by Louis Rassmussen, lockmaster and Louis Rogers. Mr. Pennings is survived by his widow and one sone, Eugene, his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Theodore Pennings of Freedom, and four brothers, Harry of San Pedro, Calif., Oliver, Leo and Arthur of Freedom, four sisters, Mrs. Donald McCaulley of Appleton, Mrs. Anton Derys of Kaukauna, Magdelen and Loretta Pennings of Freedom.
