  • Burial: He was buried in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton, Outagamie Co, Wisconsin.
  • Note: Sylvester J. "Ves" Vissers, Kaukauna, age 90, died Friday December 28, 2012 at his home. He was born in Kaukauna on July 19, 1922 to the late Martin and Delia (De Leest) Vissers. Ves married Bonita "Bonnie" Liebergen in Little Chute on February 28, 1946. She preceded him in death October 2, 2000. Ves farmed and worked and the Combined Locks Paper Mill, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He loved to tinker and could fix anything. Ves loved playing cards. His favorite was Sheepshead and he usually won. Ves also enjoyed traveling and in recent years, traveled a lot with his very special friend Cornelia.

    Sylvester is survived by his children: Wayne (Carol), Little Chute; Al, Kaukauna; Diane (Terry) Vander Linden, Green Bay; Randy (Linda), Guntersville, AL; Michael (Joe Miron), Bellevue; and Marv (Margaret), Oak Creek; grandchildren: Vicki (Eric) Spieler, Tanya Borseth, Jim (Kelly) and Melissa Vander Linden, Marie (Kevin) Soper, Brad (Katie), David, Josh, Bailey and Samuel Vissers; 10 great grandchildren; very special friend Cornelia Coenen; brother and sisters: Elmer Vissers, Marian Van Asten and Geraldine (Donald) Pennings; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Martha Van Oss, Clayton (Lois) Liebergen and Eileen (Spice) Keough. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    In addition to his parents and wife, Ves was preceded in death by his son Gary; daughter-in-law Cleo; father and mother-in-law: Henry and Elizabeth (Baeten) Liebergen; siblings and in-laws: Ella (Jake) Van Wychen, Tillie (Ervin) Welhouse, Minnie (Frank) Zwiers, Bill Van Asten, Florence (Frank) Weyers, George (Frances) Vissers, Harriet (Frank) Weyenberg, Evelyn Vissers, Jerome Van Oss, Lester Spice and John "Jack" Keough.

    Visitation will be held Monday December 31, 2012 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen will officiate. Committal at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Ves' name.   • Birth: Mary Meisenhelder was born on October 23, 1950 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee Co, Wisconsin.
  • Death: She died on November 3, 2014, at age 64.
  • Note: Mary Derus, age 64, passed peacefully on November 3, 2014 surrounded by her children. Mary was born October 23, 1950 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Willis and Julietta (Baugniet) Meisenhelder. Graduated from Custer High School in Milwaukee before moving to Kaukauna, Wisconsin. She was employee with Kmart for several years before moving to Kissimmee, FL to start her dream job at Walt Disney World. After 24 wonderful years of working as the " go to lady " for her entire team, she retired at age 62. During her few years of retirement, she enjoyed taking her family an friends to Disney, to share with them her love and show them the " magic". She was also a member of the American Legion, Ladies auxiliary, the ladies of the Moose, and had recently joined the Fraternal order of Eagles, were she spent many hours doing her favorite pastime playing bingo. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her boys and her daughter of the heart.

    She is survived by her sons, Jason ( Vicki) Montanye, Kaukauna, WI and David Montanye, Kissimmee, FL; and grandson Trevor Hansen and special friend Krista; and her great grand baby due in December; brother Mello Meisenhelder; nephew, Andrew Meisenhelder; niece, Katie (Trey) Cube, Largo, FL; special friends Kay and Ned Strite; and many other relatives and friends.

    She was preceeded in death by her father ,Willis Meisenhelder, and mother, Julietta.

    Mary's wishes were to not have a funeral service, but a " Celebration of Life" which will occur at a later date for her family and friends.

    The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Hildebrand, Dr. Gandev , and Dr. Avery along with the ICU staff: Bill, Katie and Nan. Words can not express the compassion that you showed our family and our Mother. A special thank you to Bev Meisenhelder and Ned Montanye for lending a shoulder to lean on during our hard times.

    Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that's how I will remember you all. If you can only remember me with tears, don't remember me at all. ~Mary.

  • Note: Colleen Ann "Kelly" Derus Elert, age 62, of Vancouver, Washington, formerly of Oshkosh, died suddenly on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at her home in Vancouver. She was born on November 15, 1951, in Appleton, to the late Robert and Bette (Chadek) Derus. Kelly was raised in Kaukauna and graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1970. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Kelly was employed by the Wisconsin State Prison System for over 20 years, retiring from the Oshkosh Correctional Center in September 2011. Kelly was a very gifted artist; most recently producing beautiful stained glass pieces. She was also a talented cook.

    Kelly is survived by two sons, Aaron (Kara) Tomason and their children, Seth, Avery, and Ethan (due in April), of Patuxent River, Maryland; and Sean Tomason (Chelsea Donoghue) of Hartford, Wisconsin. She is also survived by two stepchildren, Jeffrey (Melissa) Tomason of Raymond, Washington and their children, Rory, Shelby, and Logan, and Janelle Tomason (David Schwarzkopf) and their children, Derick, Brenden, Kayla, Tyhiya, and Tyler, of Bend, Oregon. Kelly is also survived by her siblings, Mike Derus (Christine Kindler) Kaukauna; Jean (John) Abendroth, Shawano; Barb Robertson (Ken Lemberger) Oshkosh; Brian (Tammie Jo Berg) Derus, Iola; and Rob Derus, Madison. She is further survived by five nephews, Jim (Kelly) Vander Linden, Ryan Braun, Joe Derus, Kyle Derus, Dan Robertson, and one niece, Ashley Derus; grandnieces and nephews, Lucas and Vanessa Hohn, Connor, Kaitlyn, and Evan Vander Linden and other relatives and friends including her very special friend, Janet Sandefur (Jay Snell) of Vancouver. She was preceded in death by her parents.

    Cremation has occurred and there will be a memorial service at a later date in Oshkosh. The Evergreen Staples Funeral Home of Vancouver assisted the family.
  • Graduation: She graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1970.
