    George Huss Sr.

    Formerly of Lawe St., Route 2, Kaukauna, age 83, died early Monday morning at Parkside Nursing Home, Little Chute, after a lingering illness. He was born April 6, 1896 in Freedom. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of Thilmany Quarter Century Club, Holy Cross Catholic Church and the American Legion Post No. 41, Kaukauna. Mr. Huss had been employed with Thilmany Pulp and Paper Corporation for 43 years as a truck driver until his retirement. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. John B. (Nancy) Schmidt, Route 1, Brillion; eight sons: Lawrence, Sylvester and Robert, all of Little Chute; Jerome "Jerry", Appleton; Cleon "Hussy", Floyd, George Jr. and Kenneth, all of Kaukauna; three brothers: Oscar Clarence and Norbert, all of Kaukauna; a sister, Mrs. William (Martha) Vande Wettering, Greenleaf; 46 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, three sisters and two brothers. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna, with the Rev. Mike Hoffman officiating. There will be a complete military service following the mass. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna. Friends may call at the Fargo Funeral Home, Kaukauna, after 3 p.m. Tuesday. There will be a prayer service a 7 p.m. and an American Legion Service at 7:30 p.m., both Tuesday evening. A memorial fund has been established for the Holy Cross Catholic Church.

    Jerome Huss, age 92 of Kaukauna, died at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, Wisconsin on Monday, January 30, 2017. Jerry was born in Kaukauna on February 20, 1924, son of the late George and Catherine (DeCoster) Huss. He attended Holy Cross School in Kaukauna and later married Dolores Hamilton on October 10, 1946 at Holy Cross. The couple celebrated their 70th anniversary in 2016. Jerry drove bus for Fox River Lines, and from 1961 until 1978, he and Dee owned and operated Jerry and Dee's Tavern. After retiring, he returned to Valley Transit for a time. Jerry was a very busy man about town. He was the past president of the Kaukauna AARP Chapter and was the first president of the Heart of the Valley Golden K Kiwanis Club, where he was presented the George Hixon Award for outstanding service.

    Jerry served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1943 until 1946. He was stationed in Ludlow, England with the 123rd General Hospital. His duty was to go to the English Channel and meet the boats bringing wounded soldiers from France and Germany who needed medical care. He was currently a member and past commander of American Legion Post 41 and VFW Post 3319. He also was the Outagamie Commander, 9th District Vice Commander, Chef de Gare of the 40 and 8, and was past president of Branch 64 of the Catholic Knights. He also served as president of four other local organizations.

    Jerry will be remembered as a generous and loving man who always had a smile on his face. He loved his grandchildren so much - they each brought special joy to his life. He also enjoyed woodworking, camping, fishing, and some good polka music.

    He is survived by his wife: Dolores Huss of Kaukauna; five children: Mike (Jill) Huss of Kaukauna; Thomas (Pam) Huss of Hortonville; Tony (Cindy) Huss of Kaukauna; and Matt (Linda) Huss of Enid, Oklahoma. There are ten grandchildren: Craig (Nickie) Huss, Chad (Laura) Huss, Angela (Matthew) Buechel, Kristy Huss, Jacqueline (Christopher) Lawrence, Ben (Heather) Huss, Adam (Rachel) Huss, Nicole (Mike) Tessler, Amber Huss, and Kevin (Brittney) Huss. There are also fourteen great-grandchildren as well as three brothers: Floyd (Arlene) Huss, Kenneth (Rosie) Huss, and George Huss; a daughter-in-law: Robbie Huss of Two Rivers; and a brother-in-law: John Schmidt of Dundas. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, sons Alan and Bruce Huss, four brothers: Lawrence (Agnes) Huss, Sylvester (Ethel) Huss, Robert (Mildred) Huss, and Cleon (Marion) Huss; a sister: Nancy Schmidt; and a sister-in-law: Rosie Huss.

    The funeral liturgy for Jerry will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna, with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Full military honors will follow the service at the church. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday at the Fargo Funeral Home, 400 W. Wisconsin Avenue in Kaukauna, and again Friday morning at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.

    Cleon is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Marian; children: Katherine (Tom) Schroder, Kaukauna; Patricia (Jon) Zeininger, Menasha; and Paul (Barb) Huss, Combined Locks; grandchildren: Sue Schroder, Tina (Nick) Voigt, Jamie (Rhonda) and Nick (Maureen) DeLeeuw, William IV (special friend Lauren Jares) and Jon Zeininger Jr., Mike (special friend Jessica Danielzcak), Joe, Kelly and Jason (Bailey) Huss; great-grandchildren: Austin, Ethan and Jasara Huss and was looking forward to the birth of three more later this year; brothers: Jerome (Delores), Floyd (Arleen), George (Rose) and Kenneth (Rosie); sister Nancy (John) Schmidt; sister-in-law Elvira (Elmer) Kraus; Godchildren: Dean Huss, Karen Boldt, Debbie Haessley, Carla Hicks and Mary Zierler; and extended family Jim (Leslie) Lursink and their children Jessica and Hailey. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    In addition to his parents, Cleon was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law: Michael and Irene Metz Jr.; siblings: Lawrence (Agnes), Sylvester (Ethel), Katherine and Robert (Mildred); and brothers and sisters-in-law: Anthony Metz, Helen Metz, Laurie (Gordon) Cotter and Marcella (Jules) Van Munn.

    Visitation will be held Friday May 13, 2011, at HOLY CROSS PARISH (309 Desnoyer St., Kaukauna) beginning at 9 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. The Rev. Thomas Pomeroy will officiate.   • Note: Marian Anna (Metz) Huss, Little Chute, age 85, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday February 21, 2016 after complications following surgery. Marian was born May 16 1930 to Michael and Irene (Nettekoven) Metz. She married her life time friend and love, Cleon Peter Huss on September 10, 1949. Together they had three children.

    Marian enjoyed sewing clothes for herself and her three children. She continued this by crocheting blankets for all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed trips to St. Germaine and Door County and a tradition of cooking Sunday dinner for her family to all come home to. Marian made the best Carrot Cake that could be found anywhere. She also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. In her later life she took great pride in spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and her dog Allie.

    Marian is survived by her daughters: Katherine (Thomas) Schroder of Kaukauna and Patricia (Jon) Zeininger of Menasha; and son: Paul (Barbara) Huss of Combined Locks. Marian is further survived by 11 grandchildren: Susan Schroder, Tina (Nicholas) Voigt, Jamie, (Rhonda) DeLeeuw, Nicholas (Maureen) DeLeeuw, William (Lauren Jares) Zeininger, Jon Zeininger Jr., Michael (Jessica) Huss, Joseph (Jenni Schmidt) Huss, Kelly (Will Banks) Huss, Jason (Bailey) Huss and Lesley (Jim) Leusink. Marian had 14 great grandchildren, as they called her grandma Great: Collin and Abigail, Myla and Aubrey, Lydon and Wyatt, Austin, Ethan, Jassara, Chloe, Lillian, Alivia, Jessica and Hailey.

    Marian is also survived by her brothers-in-law: Ken (Rosie) Huss, Floyd (Arlene) Huss, Jerry (Dee) Huss, George (Rosie) Huss, John Schmidt; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who loved her dearly; and her special companion Allie.

    In addition to her parents, Marian was preceded in death by her husband Cleon and his parents, George Sr. and Catherine Huss; siblings: Sally (Julie) Van Munn, Helen Metz, Laurie (Gordon) Cotter, Elvira (Elmer) Kraus, and her only brother, Tony Metz. She was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters-in-law: Sylvester (Ethel), Lawrence (Agnes) and Robert (Millie) Huss and Nancy Schmidt.

    Visitation will be held Saturday, February 27, 2016 at HOLY CROSS PARISH (309 Desnoyer St. Kaukauna beginning at 11:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 1:00 p.m. The Rev. Thomas Pomeroy will officiate.
