    Dan "Hoolie" was born on June 28, 1952 to Richard & Mary Jo Hoolihan, in Appleton, WI. "Hoolie" was a graduate of Kimberly High School and the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh. He lived in Kimberly and Appleton, WI until 1992 and then moved to Minneapolis, MN. Hoolie's longtime career was with Secura Insurance, until retiring in May of 2013.

    "Hoolie" was preceded in death by his father, Richard Hoolihan (2008) and mother Mary Jo Hoolihan (2010). He is survived by three sons: Sam D. Hoolihan (Anne-Marie), Nicholas D. Hoolihan and Michael D. Hoolihan, one grandson: Harris J. Hoolihan, a sister: Kathy Keddell (Don) and fiancé: Marianne Plotnik.

    Hoolihan, Richard J. "Dick"
    Richard L. Hoolihan, 87, Kimberly, passed away at Parkside Care Center on Tuesday, February 26, 2008. He was born in Kaukauna on January 12, 1921, the son of the late John and Adeline (Sturm) Hoolihan. Dick graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1938. He then learned the masonry trade. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942 and served overseas during WWII as a Chief Petty Officer on the U.S.S. Meriweather. On September 24, 1946, he married Mary Jo Wydeven in Kimberly. Dick was the proud owner of Hoolihan's Quality Footwear in Kimberly for 32 years, retiring in 1983. He was involved with the Knights of Columbus, the Kimberly School Board, was a trustee for the Kimberly Village Board, a member of the Board of Directors at the Kimberly State Bank, and a member of the William Verhagen Post of the American Legion Post #60, Kimberly. He was particularly proud of building and maintaining his home. He enjoyed following his grandchildren's sporting events.

    Dick is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Jo; children: Dan (fiancee, Marianne) Hoolihan of Minneapolis, MN, Kathy (Don) Keddell of Menasha; grandchildren: Sam, Mike and Nick Hoolihan, all of Minneapolis, MN, and Molly (Curtis) Maurer of Neenah; step-grandson, Kyle Keddell of Appleton; and brothers and sisters-in-law.

    He is preceded in death by sisters: Marian Fransway and Madge Trittin; and brother, Art Hoolihan.

    The funeral liturgy will be at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 29, 2008, at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH, Kimberly Campus, 600 E. Kimberly Ave., Kimberly, with Rev. David Belongia officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday, February 28, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the mass. Please join us immediately following the Mass for a military honor service. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery, Kimberly.

    The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Parkside Care Center for their professional and loving care.

    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Dick's name is being established.

    Dick will forever be remembered for his sense of humor, friendliness and authentic kindness.

  • Note: Mary Jo Hoolihan, 90, Kimberly, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 31, 2010, at St. Paul Elder Services. She was born on June 18, 1920, in Kimberly, the daughter of the late Theodore and Josephine (DeGroot) Wydeven. Mary Jo graduated from Kimberly High School-Class of 1938. During her years at Kimberly High School, Mary enjoyed drama and had a role in every school play.

    She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a dental technician from 1944-1946. On September 24, 1946, she married Richard Hoolihan at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Kimberly.
    Mary Jo was a dental assistant with Dr. Deloria in Kaukauna until they started a family. Dick and Mary bought Wydeven's Shoe Store on Main Street in Kimberly from Mary's father in 1949. They operated Hoolihan's Shoe Store in the same location on Main Street until Dick's retirement in 1983.
    Mary has always enjoyed supporting Kimberly athletics, as well as attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events. At the Kimberly High School Homecoming in 2004, she was honored for being the author of the Papermaker's school song. She was active in three bridge clubs and she enjoyed cooking, needlework, golfing and gardening. Mary was meticulous about her appearance and home. Family was extremely important to her and she was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
    Mary Jo is survived by her children, Dan (fiancee, Marianne Plotnik) Hoolihan, Shakopee, Minn.; and Kathy (Don) Keddell, Menasha; grandchildren, Sam (Anne-Marie), Mike and Nick Hoolihan, all of Minneapolis; and Molly (Curtis) Maurer, Neenah; step-grandson, Kyle (April) Keddell, Menasha; great-granddaughter, Breleigh Maurer; sister, Kathleen Allen, Michigan; and brother, Jack (Shirlee) Wydeven, Kimberly. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Hoolihan; sister, Rosamund (Norman) Wiegman; brother, Clifford (Harriet) Wydeven; and brother-in-law, C.B. Allen.
    The funeral liturgy for Mary Jo will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH - KIMBERLY, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue, with the Rev. David Beaudry officiating. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery. Friends will be received at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Please join us immediately following the Mass for military honors.
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.
    The family extends their appreciation to the staff at St. Paul, especially Sister Dorothy, Mary, Margie, Tina and Mike, for their compassion, dignity and respect shown to our Mother and family during her stay.

    Age 83, died Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at the Franciscan Care Center, Appleton. He was born December 5, 1919 in Kaukauna son of the late Joseph and Gertrude (Biese) Derus. Leonard was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in World War II. He was employed at Riverside Paper in Appleton until his retirement. Leonard was a charter member of Fox Valley Golf Club, was a 50 year member of the American Legion and was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Parish in Kaukauna.

    Survivors include two sisters and a brother-in-law: Nathalie Kehoe, Kaukauna Lorena (Bob) Hooyman, Minneapolis, Minnesota two brothers and sisters-in-law: Gerald (Darlene) Derus, Dana Point, California David (Ruth) Derus, San Francisco, California numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sr. Jean Derus a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Bette Derus and a nephew, Patrick Kehoe.

    A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Kaukauna with Fr. Robert Udulutsch officiating. Friends may call directly at the church from 9:00 am Saturday until the time of services. A memorial fund has been established in his name. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna is assisting the family.

Nathalie Derus

    Nathalie was a member of St. Vincent DePaul, St. Mary Catholic Church in Kaukauna, and taught religious education to St. Mary's students for 7 years. She was also a member of St. Mary's Altar Society, a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish, and a proud member of the Democratic Party. Nathalie was a Happy Grandmother who taught her grandchildren, Spencer and Hailey, gin rummy. She loved reading, sewing, and knitting. She was the Milwaukee Brewers biggest fan! Nathalie was employed for 25 years at Thilmany Pulp and Paper Co. and a member of Thilmany's Quarter Century Club.

    She is survived by a daughter, Christine Kehoe of Kaukauna; a son, Patrick (Betsy) Kehoe of Atherton, CA; two grandchildren: Spencer Kehoe and Hailey Kehoe; a brother, David (Ruth) Derus of San Francisco; a sister, Lorena (Robert) Hooyman of Minnetonka, MN.

    Preceding her in death were a daughter, Lynn Kehoe; brothers: Leonard Derus, Robert Derus, and Dr. Gerald Derus; a sister, Sister Jean Derus, OP.

    A Memorial Mass for Nathalie will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH @ ST. MARY CHURCH, 119 West Seventh St., Kaukauna with Fr. Jerry Pastors celebrating. Friends will be received at the church on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Catholic School Scholarship Fund. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home in Kaukauna is assisting the family. (766-2099)
