    John Heier, age 73 of Kimberly, passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, February 14, 2014, with the love of his life by his side. John was born January 28, 1941 in Oconto, to the late John and Beatrice (Benson) Heier. He loved to tell stories of growing up on the farm. After high school, John went to serve Uncle Sam in the United States Air Force, traveled to Pakistan and around the world. When John came back to his home state of Wisconsin, he settled in the Fox Valley and focused on his family and children. He married Kathy Van Hout on January 10, 1981. He became involved everywhere that he could. He was a member of the William Verhagen Post #60 of the American Legion, he coached soccer, loved bowling, and helped with Lutheran Pioneers at church. A longtime employee of Appleton Papers, John was a member of the Appleton Papers Union Local #2-469 and was heavily involved in a variety of volunteer activities at the mill. John also loved spending time at the lake where he taught all of his children and countless others how to fish and to water ski. One of his favorite activities of all was spending time with his growing grandchildren.

    John will be sadly missed by his wife; his children: Dan (Lori) Kowalczyk of Cecil; Chris (David) Johnson of Appleton; Terri Kowalczyk of Appleton; Nicole (Steve) Leitermann of Kimberly; Ryan (Jenny) McSorley of Freedom; Molly (Rich) Valentine of Appleton; Robin Heier of Kimberly; and Leah Heier (Chris Wiesner) of Kimberly. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Craig, Kyle, Cullin, Kassidi, Mysti, Eli, Aubree, Dustin, Savannah, and Josiah; and a great-grandson: Cannon. There are also several brothers and sisters: Julian (Judy) Heier of Green Bay; Joyce (Ken) Drace of Neenah; Harry (Marie) Heier Appleton; Shirley (Dan) Belongia of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Lloyd (Pat) Heier of Oconto. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Clarice (Alfie) Strei, Elsie (LaVern) Zorn, and Avis (Al) DeRoche.

    The Christian Funeral service for John will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at MOUNT CALVARY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, Highway 114 at Coop Road, with Rev. Jesse Johnston officiating. Family and friends will gather at the Fargo Funeral Home, 400 W. Wisconsin Avenue in Kaukauna on Monday from 4:00 PM until the time of a prayer service at 7:30 PM. Visitation will resume at the church on Tuesday morning at 10:00 AM and continue until the time of the service.



    John's family would like to thank ThedaCare At Home Hospice for all of their help in making his final days peaceful.

  • Note: Clarence Henry Wilz, 96, of Neenah passed away early Friday, October 14, 2016. He was born on May 19, 1920. Clarence married Adeline (Burmeister) on July 10, 1948. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp in England during WWII. Clarence enjoyed living on the lake where he could pursue his love of boating and fishing. He also had a passion for hunting and being outdoors.

    Clarence is survived by his wife of 68 years Adeline Wilz; daughters Lynn (Steve) Polman and Terri Jo (Thomas) Graverson; five grandchildren: Angela Polman (John Cliff), Todd (Christa) Graverson, Nicholas (Jessica) Polman, Troy (Leah) Graverson, and Trisha (Rob) Ruys; eight great-grandchildren; sister Rita Dercks; and sister-in-law Vivian Wilz.

    He was preceded in death by his daughter Kathryn "Kay" Wilz; four sisters: Helen (Charles) Sexton, Marion (William) Van Hoot, Doris (Raymond) Noel, and Gladys (Richard) Gerrits; and two brothers Earl (Catherine) Wilz and Donald Wilz.

    The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Roger Genske for his continued spiritual support.

    The Funeral Mass for Clarence will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at St. Gabriel Parish, 900 Geiger Street, Neenah with Rev. Larry Seidl officiating. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the mass. Full Military Honors will follow the service with the Neenah Menasha Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Clarence's memory. He will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery.

She leaves behind her parents; her sisters: Lynn (Steve) Polman and Terri Jo (Thomas) Graverson; her aunts: Rita Dercks and Vivian Wilz; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as her forever and ever friend, Holly. She was preceded in death by other aunts and uncles.

    A funeral service for Kay will be held at 11:30 A.M., Friday, January 29, 2016 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger St., Neenah, Fr. Richard Allen officiating. A visitation will be held at church from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of service.

  • Note: Donald J. Wilz, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 22, 2010, at home in Appleton. Donald was born in Appleton, on November 6, 1922, son of the late Edward and Katherine (Biese) Wilz. He married Vivian Halloran on July 20, 1942.

    Donald proudly served in the United States Army from 1943 until 1945 in the South Pacific Infantry. He was awarded the Silver Star. After his service, Donald worked for Northern Boiler Works until 1950 and for Kimberly-Clark from 1950 until he retired in 1985. During that time, Donald also worked as a master plumber.

    He loved bowling and the outdoors, especially fishing and camping with his family. Donald was also very proud of his big garden.

    Donald is survived by his wife of 68 years, Vivian; six children, Linda Barna, Appleton; Dick Wilz, Kimberly; Jerry (Janet) Wilz, Greenville, S.C.; Dave (Andrea) Wilz, Appleton; Tom Wilz, Appleton; and Susan (Larry) Kluball, Appleton; nine grandchildren, Laura (Eric) Gilgenbach, Sara (Joe) Charlier, Richard (Jeannine) Wilz, Michelle Wilz, Chad (Tracee) Wilz, Scott Wilz, Lauren Wilz, Drew Wilz and Lisa Bouge; 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; a sister, Rita Dercks; and a brother, Clarence (Adaline) Wilz.

    He was further preceded in death by three grandchildren, Christie and Craig Wilz and Jenny Topel; four sisters, Helen (Charles) Sexton, Marion (William) Van Hout, Doris (Raymond) Noel and Gladys (Richard) Gerretts; and a brother, Earl (Catherine) Wilz.

    Private family funeral services will be held.
