    DIED.
At his residence in Little Chute, after a lingering illness of three months, 2 weeks and 4 days, Herman J Jansen

Born November 25th 1809, in Zeflick, Prussia. Came with his family to Little Chute, Wisconsin in 1848 and remained there ever since, with the ups and downs. The '48er's are getting thinned out. But a few are left. His wife died three years after arrival and he remained a widower until his death. Two sons and one daughter (all married) with a number of grand children, twenty-four in all, mourn his absence, never to forget his worthy advice. Mr. H. J. Jansen was respected by all for his noble character, the movement of his hand would comfort the afflicted, and make them mercy. He was a noble example for humanity, and whoever reads this article will say, "Amen, Rest in Peace faithful Servant." The Town of Kaukauna having elected him as Supervisor and Assessor for a number of years in succession. He was also a trustee of the Catholic Church of Little Chute for many years and the Rev. A. J. Verbeck appointed him as a deacon to promote decency and respect in and outside the Church, which position he fulfilled to the greatest satisfaction and has been very beneficial to the up growing youth. The remains were taken to the last resting place, ?? at 4 P.M., which will be remembered by all whom attended the same. R. I. P. A PIONEER.
