She was born May 19, 1906 in Freedom, t he daughter of the late George and Dora (Leisch) Vandenberg. Virginia w as united in marriage to Thomas W. Duffey in 1925. He preceded her in dea th in 1974. On August 24, 1979 she was united in marriage to Thomas Landwe hr, Sr. in Seymour. He preceded her in death Jan. 17, 1998. She was a memb er of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Seymour and a member of the Ch ristian Mothers, and sang in the church choir for many years. She was a me mber of the Seymourettes Homemakers and the Womans Club. Virginia was an a vid gardener and received a correspondence degree in Horticulture lat er in her life.She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Ann) Duffey, Seymour; Patrick (Joa n) Duffey, Virginia; ten grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 grea t-great grandchild. She is further survived by a special nephew, Jon (Shar on) Dyer, Miami; and their two sons, her step-children: T.J. (Jane) Landwe hr, Seymour, Nancy Anderson, Florida, Mary (John) Zohlen, Maryland, Franc es (Bill) Fraser, Colorado, and one sister Lorraine LeFevre, Green Bay.Virginia was preceded in death by her husbands; one son, Daniel; one broth er, and three sisters.Friends may call at the Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, 358 S. Main Stree t, Seymour on Tuesday from 6 to 8 with the prayer service at 7:30. Visitat ion will continue on Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 9 15 Ivory Street, Seymour from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Mass of Christian Bur ial will be at 11 a.m., with Father Martin Fox officiating.     McCormick, Jerome "Jerry"


    Jerome C. "Jerry" McCormick, 88, Green Bay, died Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at a local hospital. He was born April 19, 1921, in Freedom, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Liesch) McCormick. His formal education began in a one-room country school. He moved on to St. Nicholas Catholic Grade School and Freedom High School. During World War II, he entered the U.S. Navy as a midshipman. During the war, he served in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He also captained escort boats and was discharged with the rank of Lieutenant Senior Grade. On Dec, 22, 1943, he married the love of his life, Florence Mae Steinkellner in Waukegan, Ill.

    After the war, he earned his Bachelors Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and a Masters Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He began his teaching career in New London. He then moved to Green Bay, where he became the Assistant Principal at Franklin Junior High School. He was a successful basketball coach while at Franklin and coached the 1958 and 1959 seasons, going undefeated with 25 consecutive wins. Mr. McCormick was later named the first Principal of the new Southwest High School, working many hours on the design and layout. He was eventually named Director of Secondary Education for the Green Bay Board of Education, retiring from that post in 1982.

    Mr. McCormick was a charter member of St. Jude Parish. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #5382 and was also a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Marquette Assembly and The American Legion Sullivan-Wallen Post #11. Mr. McCormick served as President of the Council on Aging from 1986 to 1998. He enjoyed his retirement years with his wife and his family at his cabin near Kelly Lake, where he loved to fish and hunt. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking and was an avid Packers fan.

    Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Florence; four children and their spouses, Dennis and Judy McCormick, Denver, Colo.; Kathleen and Frederick Wieting, Green Bay; John McCormick and Bridget Sperl, Birchwood, Minn.; Christine and David Scherer, Amherst, Mass.; nine grandchildren, Noelle (Andrew) Philipp, Michael McCormick, Kurtis (Claudia) Wieting, Ann Wieting, Jack Wieting, Clare (George) Bryant, Sheila McCormick, Jack McCormick, Evelynn Scherer; a great-granddaughter, Camila Weiting; a sister, Eileen VanDrasek; nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John McCormick and Robert McCormick; a sister, Daisy Biason; and a sister-in-law, Kate McCormick.

    Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday. There will be a Knights of Columbus memorial service at 4:30 p.m. Friends may also call at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1420 Division St., from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Timothy Brandt officiating. Full Military Honors will follow. Entombment will be in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.   • Note: Eileen A. (McCormick) Van Drasek, 92, Green Bay, formerly of Kaukauna, died Monday, March 15, 2010. She was born Feb. 17, 1918, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Liesch) McCormick in Freedom. Eileen graduated from St. Nicholas Catholic Grade School, Freedom High School and Outagamie County Normal School. She taught at the Underhill School for 15 years. On Oct. 24, 1950, she married Anthony Van Drasek at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton. The couple resided in Kaukauna where they were members of Holy Cross Parish.
    Survivors include a sister-in-law, Florence McCormick; a brother-in-law, Robert Van Drasek; nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Van Drasek; her parents; three brothers, John (Catherine) McCormick, Jerome McCormick, Robert McCormick; and a sister, Daisy McCormick.
    Friends may call from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel at Woodside Lutheran Home, 1040 Pilgrim Way. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel with Sr. Pat Clement CSJ officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Kaukauna. She will be remembered at the 7 a.m. Mass at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna, on Thursday, April 8, 2010.
