    Little Chute Man First Outagamie Road Death of 1960
    Clarence G Hietpas, 26, of 1010 ½ Depot street, Little Chute, died instantly about 11 p.m. Friday when his car left County Trunk E and landed on its top. He was along in the car.
    Hietpas became the first highway death of 1960 in Outagamie county.
    The 1955 car left the road about half a mile northeast of Freedom, traveled 234 feet into a guard post, broke it off, hit another and careened 111 feet across the road and smashed into a stone retaining wall of a culvert. The impact threw the car into the air and it flipped over for 18 feet and landed on its top in the driveway of the Robert Frances home.
    Pried body Free
    County Patrolman Calvin Spice said a crowbar had to be used to free Hietpas' body from the wreckage. The body was taken to Kaukauna Community hospital by the Kaukauna ambulance. Hietpas was pronounced dead on arrival. Cause of death was multiple broken bones, skull fracture and numerous cuts., Coroner Bernard H. Kemps said.
    The roadway was free of ice and the car left the paved surface on a slight curve, investigating policemen said.
    On the scene were Sheriff Robert Heinritz, Little Chute police and County Patrolman Stanley Arnold and William Janssen.
    Hietpas Obituary
    Hietpas was born in West DePere June 25, 1933, and served a year with the army in Korea. He worked at the Van Zeeland nursery the last two years.

    Clarence Hietpas was born in West DePere June 25, 1933, and served a year with the Army in Korea. He worked at the Van Zeeland Nursery the last two years.

    Funeral services will be at 9 .m. Tuesday at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute, with burial in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Verkuilen Funeral Home, wher the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Monday.

    Survivors include the widow; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hietpas, Little Chute; a brother, Neil, Little Chute; and a sister, Mrs. Donald Newhouse, Rt. 2 Kaukauna.
  • Graduation: He graduated from St John High School, Little Chute, in 1951.
