    Kons, Richard C.
    Richard C. Kons, age 71, passed away unexpectedly on February 22, 2009, in Mesa, AZ, following a short battle with cancer. Dick was born on August 2, 1937, in Little Chute to Bud and Frances Kons. He graduated from St. John High School and St. Norbert College. Following graduation, he moved to Minnesota where he lived and worked for many years, moving back to Little Chute in 2000. On June 29, 2000, Dick married Peg (Hietpas) Bongers. Dick enjoyed spending time at their winter home in Mesa, AZ, the cottage at Legend Lake, cooking, card games, fishing and softball games.
    Dick is survived by his wife, Peg, and her daughters, Betsy (Dan) Hermus of Little Chute and Barb (Mike) McLean of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren Melissa (Nate) Luedtke, Emily and Ben Hermus, Calvin and Calista Mclean, a brother, Mike (Barbara) Kons, sisters, Rosie (Jack) Nienhaus, and Irene Genett, in addition to several nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his children; daughters; Patty (Ted) Cincoski, Karen (Rick) Hansen, Paula Lanik, Kathryn (Terry) Ross, Berta Kons. Sons; John (Lisa) Kons, Peter Kons, 12 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
    He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Bob, nephew Joey and a brother-in-law, Ed.
    There will be a Memorial Mass at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 24, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 Pine Street, with Msgr. James VandenHogen officiating.

    Brooke Leatherbury, Appleton, age 25, entered eternal life on Saturday, February 26, 2000. Brooke was born on April 26, 1974, in Appleton to Tim and Cheryl (Ebben) Leatherbury. She was a full time student at the University of Wisconsin-Menasha.

    Survivors include her parents; her daughter, Faith Ann Leatherbury; her brothers, Jonathon Leatherbury (close friend Rachel), Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, and Christopher Leatherbury (close friend Anna), Appleton; her aunts and uncles, Laura (Richard) Friedle, Brookfield; Debbie (Dennis) DeBruin, Menasha; June (Dan) Pynenberg, Little Chute; Birgie (Jr.) Salm, Appleton; Mary (Mark) Ebben, Mackville; Adrian (Lynn) Ebben, Kimberly; Mike (Lisa) Ebben, Darboy; and Mark (Mary) Ebben, Kaukauna; her paternal grandmother, Margaret Leatherbury, Appleton; and her maternal grandmother Inez Ebben, Little Chute; and many cousins. She is further survived by two very special people, Heidi and niece Taylor Peter, Schofield; and two very special families, Melissa and John Coyle and their children, Emily, Ben, and Cathryn; and Gena and Rob Olson and their daughter, Anna; and Faith's paternal grandparents, Thomas (Susan) Heuer, Menasha, and Faith's father Tom Heuer Jr.

    She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, John Leatherbury, and her maternal grandfather, Edward Ebben.

    The Funeral Liturgy will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 29, 2000, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 West Marquette St., Appleton, with Fr. Donald Zuleger officiating. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Brooke's name, dedicated to Faith's education.

  • Note: Jacqueline "Jackie" F. Ebben, Little Chute, age 90, died Friday, January 1, 2016 at St. Paul Home, Kaukauna. She was born in Kimberly on December 27, 1925 to the late Leonard and Gertrude Hakkert. Jackie married Richard J. Ebben on July 1, 1950.

    Jackie treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a green thumb and enjoyed tending her flowers and plants. She liked to bowl, golf and gamble (Just a little). She enjoyed singing in the Resurrection Choir at St. John Catholic Church. At age 75 she took the trip of a lifetime to Holland, where her parents emigrated from.

    Jackie is survived by her children, Alice (Dennis) Locy of Pardeeville, Steve (Pat) Ebben of Little Chute, Jane (Ken) Cousins of Appleton and Joe (Shari) Ebben of Little Chute; grandchildren, Heidi (John) Bulgrin, Susan (Steve) Campbell, Sarah (John) Patton, Peter (Kristin) Locy, Levi (Emily Huntze) and Samantha Ebben, Laura (Jared Meidl) and Luke Cousins and Melissa and Leah Ebben; great grandchildren, Dylan and Jackson Locy, Will Patton and Katherine Campbell; step great grandchildren, Amanda Bulgrin and Jordan Campbell; brothers and sisters, Lena (Bob) Polakowski and John (Mary Anne) Hakkert; brothers and sisters in-law, Ken Ebben, Ed (Yvonne) Ebben, Dori Ebben and Mary Ebben. She is further survived by many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Dick", on November 18, 1992; Dick's parents, Jack and Florence Ebben; sisters, Minnie (Harry) Wulterkens, Chris (Rich) DeCoster; brother, Jake (Johanna) Hakkert; brothers and sisters in-law, Paul Ebben, Gerald (Rita) Ebben, Joan Ebben and Tom Ebben; son in-law, Mark Lappen; and great grandson, Mason Campbell.

    Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church (323 S. Pine St, Little Chute) from 10 am until the time of Funeral Mass at 11 am. Rev.     Richard J. Ebben, Sr. 3966 Buchingham St., Detroit, Michigan, age 38, passed away Monday unexpectedly. He was born October 31, 1933 in Appleton and lived here most of his lifetime and lived in Detroit for the past three years.

    Age 70. Mass of Christian Burial for Gerry, a 39 year resident of Barrington, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2002 at St. Anne Church, corner of Franklin and Ela Streets, Barrington. He will lie in state Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of mass at the church. Father Jack Dewes will officiate.

    Born on May 10, 1931 in Little Chute, Wisconsin. He passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2002 at his home. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery. He was a chemical engineer at American Can Company for 38 years. He was a member of the Barrington American Legion Post 158 and St. Anne Church. He enjoyed traveling, football "a Packer fan," computers and fishing.

    Survivors include his wife, Rita M. Vanden Heuvel whom he married on September 1, 1952 in Little Chute, Wisconsin three children: Karen (Tim) Kasper, Palos Park Mark (Karin) Ebben, Streamwood Lisa (Dan) Gerlach, Littleton, Colorado a daughter-in-law, Mary (Patrick) James, Gilberts five grandchildren: Ken and Karly Kasper, Nikki and Jessica Gerlach, and Becky Ebben three brothers: Ken (Joan) Ebben, Bartlett Ed (Von) Ebben, Kaukauna, Wisconsin Tom (Mary) Ebben, Portage, Wisconsin and many nieces and nephews.

    He is preceded in death by his parents, John (Florence) Ebben son, James and two brothers, Richard and Paul.

    Thomas R. Ebben, 65, Portage, WI, passed away on June 19, 2008, from cancer. He was born on March 14, 1943, in Little Chute, WI. Tom graduated from: St. John High School, St. Norbert College, and acquired a CPA at UW-Madison. He moved to Portage in 1965, was a partner at Miller, Brussell, Ebben & Glaeske, LLC. Tom married college sweetheart, Mary Austin. They owned and operated a resort in Three Lakes, WI, for 20 years. Tom enjoyed spending time with family, being Up North, playing cards, and golfing.
    Tom is survived by his wife, Mary; children: Nancy (Roger) Brandt, Dan (Janelle) Ebben, Jill (Travis) Knutson; Kathy and Mike Ebben; nine grandchildren; brothers: Ken, Bartlett, IL; and Ed, Kaukauna; sisters-in-law, Jackie, Little Chute; Dorie, Athelstane; Rita, Palos Park, IL; and Yvonne, Kaukauna, many nieces, nephews, and friends. Tom treasured the friendship of his business partner Dennis Locy, his wife, Alice (nee Ebben) and four children.
    Tom is preceded in death by parents: John H. and Florence (nee Peeters) Ebben; brothers: Richard, Little Chute; Paul, Athelstane; Gerald, Barrington, IL; and sister-in-law, Joan (nee Van Schindel) Bartlett, IL.
    A private memorial service will be held. Memorials may be given in Tom's name to St. John Nepomucene School, Little Chute, WI, or Angels Grace Hospice at W349N7430 Brown Street, Oconomowoc, WI 53066.
    The family would like to thank the staff at Angels Grace Hospice for their exceptional care. The support of Tom's many relatives, friends, and classmates is deeply appreciated.
