CAUGHT IN SHAFT; HEAD IS CRUSHED
GEORGE LAMERS MEETS TERRIBLE DEATH SATURDAY
Sweater Caught on Coupling and Boy is Wound Around Shaft Five or Six Times-Head Hits Ground With Each Revolution

His sweater catching on the coupling on a shaft of a horse driven corn cutter, George, the 8 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lamers, residents on the Kimberly-Darboy Road was wound around the shaft five or six times, his head striking the ground with each revolution. When picked up his left side was found to be completely crushed, the top of his head was mangled and his shoulder broken. He lived but a few minutes. The accident happened at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning. The team was driven by an older brother of the victim. The horses were stopped as soon as the boy was caught, but the shaft kept on its mad revolution turning five of six times before it came to a halt. As it turned it hurled the boy around with it poinding his head on the ground with each turn. There was practically nothing left of the top of his head. He probably escaped suffering the first blow no doubt rendering him unconscious.
The funeral will be held from Kimberly tomorrow.
