    Peter Ebben, 87, Freedom Pioneer, Dies
    Peter Ebben, 87, Freedom, a pioneer resident and a farmer there until his retirement 38 years ago, died at his home at 6 o'clock Thursday night after a long illness. He was born February 1, 1860. He was a member of the Holy Name and St. Therese societies of St. Nicholas Catholic church, Freedom.

    He is survived by the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Henry Ebben, Kaukauna; two sisters, Mrs. Henry West, Appleton, and Mrs. peter Schouten, Los Angels, Calif.; 11 grandgchidren and 20 great grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be held at 9:30 Monday morning at St. Nicholas church with the Rev. A. W. Van Dyke, pastor, in charge. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The cortege will form at 9 o'clock Monday morning at the Greenwood Funeral home, Kaukauna, where friends may call after 7 o'clock Saturday evening. The rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock Saturday and Sunday evenings at the funeral home.

    Mrs. Peter Ebben, 90, Dies in Kaukauna
    Mrs. Peter Ebben, 90, Kaukauna, died at 9 o'clock Thursday morning after a long illness. She was born April 2, 1863 in Germany and came to this country in 1871. She and her husband farmed in the town of Freedom until 1910 when they moved into Freedom. She had been living with her daughter, Mrs. Henry Ebben, Kaukauna, for the last five years.

    Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom, with burial in the parish cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock Friday evening at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Kaukauna, and friends may call at the funeral home after 2 o'clock Friday afternoon.

    Survivors include her adopted Daughter, Mrs. Ebben; 11 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

    Age 68, passed away at 3 a.m. Friday after a four month illness. He was born in Phlox, Wis., May 14, 1894 and was a life resident of Menasha. Mr. Ebben was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis, St. Mary Catholic Church, Menasha. Survivors are his wife, Catherine, one daughter, Sister >m Angele, OSF., New Prague, Minn.; one brother, Herman L. Ebben, Redondo Beach, Calif.

    Funeral services will be Monday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with interment in Milwaukee. Friends may call at the Brown Funeral Chapel, Menasha, after 10 a.m. Sunday. The Third Order of St. Francis rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday and a parish rosary at 8 p.m.

The proceeded at once by rail to Albany, New York, then via Erie Canal to Buffalo and from there it took one week by an old steamer named "Michican" to Green Bay.

    Hooyman, Floyd Pete
    Floyd Peter Hooyman, from Neenah (formerly of Appleton) age 89, joined his most beloved wife Margaret McMahon Hooyman and his son Thomas G Hooyman internal life on February 11th, 2009. He was a wonderful man and lived his life with compassion, truthfulness, laughter, morality, faith and love for his family. He was born on June 1st, 1919 in Milwaukee to Ellen (Vandenberg) and James Hooyman. He graduated from Kaukauna High School in1938, and was a football end who received a full scholarship to University of Madison for his athletic abilities. He served his country as master sergeant of arms in the army air force in Combat in the South Pacific from January 1942 through November 1945. He served his community through volunteering at Theda Clark Medical Center and the Neenah Public Library among others. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degree. He received a degree in Interior Design and his chosen career was in sales. His dedication was first and foremost to his family.
    He will be sadly missed by his children: Dr. Patrick (Diana) Hooyman, Houston; James (Debbie) Hooyman, Stockbridge; Nancy (Wilcox) Hooyman, Denver; Barbara (Jeff) Baker, Sedona, AZ; adoring grandchildren: Nichole (Mike) Byng,Amalia, Eliza, Andrew, Richard (Tabitha), Maggie, Christopher, PJ, Sam, Thomas, Crystal, Lucy and 6 great grandchildren. Floyd was a wonderful brother, and brother in law. He will be sadly missed by Marvin and Julie Hooyman, Green Valley AZ, Eleanor Engel, Appleton, Joanne and Jim Vandenberg, Rothschild WI., Mary Sue and Bob Streck, Menasha, LouiseMcMahon, Kaukauna, a special uncle Merle (Jayne) Vandenberg and many adoring nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife "Peg-O-My Heart" of 62 years - Margaret, his dear son Dr. Thomas Hooyman, brother Alois (Bud), daughter-in-law Pam Forsythe Hooyman and other relatives.
    A Mass of Resurrection will be held, Tuesday, February 17th, at11 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1810 N. McDonald, Appleton, with Fr. Gerald Falk officiating. Visitation with the family will be held in the church's gathering space from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the mass. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund will be established.
    Floyd is lovingly recalled by his family as a dedicated and devoted Son, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and Friend. Remember him with a twinkle in his eye, a spring in his step, and a heart full of love and laughter.

    Hooyman, Margaret J. (Peggy) Margaret J. (Peggy) Hooyman (nee) McMahon of Appleton, age 84, went to her eternal rest on Monday, May 23, 2005, after a long illness. Margaret was born in Kaukauna, WI on August 17, 1920, to the late Mary (DeJong) and Lawrence McMahon. She graduated Kaukauna High in 1938, was St. Mary's May Queen, attended Lawrence University, and she was a nurse's aide at St. Elizabeth's Hospital during World War II. She was one of the original five secretaries for Gordon Bubolz Insurance - which is now Secura. One of Margaret's greatest accomplishments was being the first woman in the Fox Valley to own and operate an Antique Store - "The Old Curiosity Shop" for 30 years. She was proud of her family, her home, her business and her Irish Heritage. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Floyd Hooyman, Appleton; sons: Patrick (Diana) Hooyman, Houston, TX; James (Debbie) Hooyman, Stockbridge; and Tom (Nancy), Denver, CO; daughter: Barbara (Jeff) Sendona AZ, 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by both her parents, her beloved sister and brothers: Mary, Lawrence, John, Francis, James, and the Rev. Patrick McMahon. She was also preceded in death by her mother- and father-in-law Ellen and James Hooyman. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Peabody Manor Pine Creek for the wonderful care given to Margaret over the last 2½ years. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2005, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 119 W. 7th St., KAUKAUNA, with Fr. Gerald Falk, Fr. Bob Lexa and Deacon Bill Burke officiating. Visitation will be TONIGHT Wednesday, May 25, 2005, from 4-7 p.m. at the Valley Funeral Home and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
