He was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin on March 27, 1939 to the late Harold and Mary (Greppi) Buchner, and had been an area resident for over 35 years. Wally served with the United States Air Force for four years, and had been employed by P.H. Glatfelter, Bergrstrom Divison for 35 years, retiring in 2001. He married Theresa (Hooyman) Newhouse on February 9, 1983. Survivors include his wife; two brothers: Allen ''Buck'' (Kate) Buchner of Pembine and Doug Ninneman of Appleton; a sister: Gloria (Ken) Ferguson of Valcan, Michigan; seven step-children: Mike (Jane) Newhouse of Appleton, Cindy (Guy) Van Lanen of Combined Locks, Patricia (Doug) West of Kaukauna, Lora Newhouse of Menasha, Susan (Doug) Korth of Embarrass, Timothy Newhouse of Kaukauna, Joy (Edward) Casper of Brillion; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur and Minnie Heck. Funeral services for Wally will be held at 4 PM on Wednesday, April 17, 2002 at the funeral home chapel with Sr. Annette Koss officiating. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 PM until the hour of the services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

    Martin Ebben 85, Town of Center, died at the home of his son, Lee M. Ebben this morning. He had been ill since Friday. Born April 18, 1858 at Kaukauna, he lived in Appleton 15 years, before morning to the Town of Center three years ago. Mr. Ebben was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Edward Church at Mackville. For 48 years he was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis at St. Joseph Chuch in Appleton.

    Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. John Kwick, Pearson, Wisconsin; five sons, Arthur, Fox, Wisconsin; Herman, Santa Monica, California; Raymond, Appleton; Frank, Menasha; Lee, Town of Center; one brother, Peter, Freedom; two sisters, Mrs. Henry West, Appleton; Mrs. Peter Schouten, West Allis; 19 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be held at 9:30 Thursday morning at St. Edward Church, Mackville with the cortege forming at 8:45 at Schommer Funeral Home. The Rev. N.L. Gross will be in charge and burial will be in the parish cemetery. The body may be viewed at the funeral home after 7 o'clock tonight where the rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock tonight and tommorrow night.

    Henry P. VanDyke

    Age 89, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Monday after a short illness. He was born April 21, 1873 in Freedom. He was a carpenter by trade. He served as town chairman, assessor and town clerk during his lifetime. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom.

    Mr. VanDyke is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Herman [Ann] Ebben, Redonda Beach, California; Mrs. Ray [Katherine] Ebben, Milwaukee; Mrs. Frank [Rosella] Ebben, Menasha; Mrs. William [Frances] Derks, Kaukauna; Mrs. Loretta Verstegen, Little Chute; Mrs. William [Genevieve] Martzhall, Kaukauna; four sons, Clarence, Stockton, California; Ignatius, San Francisco, California; Harold, Kaukauna; Alvin, Freedom; five brothers, Matt, William and John all of Kaukauna; Peter, Shawano, August, Menasha; two sisters, Mrs. Patrick [Della] McCarthy, Kaukauna; Mrs. John [Ann] Adrian, Appleton; 45 grandchildren and 85 great grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Nicholic Catholic Church, Freedom. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Kaukauna after 2 p.m. Tuesday. Rosary will be prayed at 8:45 Tuesday at the funeral home.

    FIFTH WARD IS HARD HIT DURIN LAST DAY

    Rate of Mortality in Appleton During the Last Few Months Has Been Very High
    Appleton, Wis., Wednesday, May 2. The excessive mortality prevalent in the city last winter does not appear to have ceased. A large number of deaths have been reported during the past two weeks, while today the emblem significant of death hangs from three doors within two blocks of each other in the Fifth ward. At 37 Sherman Place lies the body of Kuno F. Keller, who died suddenly last night. At 847 North Division Street, Mrs. Henry Van Dyke passed away yesterday and to 808 North Division Street was removed the body of Henry Hilfert, who died in Milwauke.

    Age 66, passed away Saturday at 10 p.m. after a three month illness. He was born January 15, 1896 in Phlox, Wisconsin, and retired from the Neenah-Menasha Sewage Department one year ago. He was a vetern of World War 1 and was a member of St. Mary Holy Name Society, Menasha.

    Survivors are his wife, Rosella; three daughters; Mrs. Robert NcNutt, Mrs. Norbert Krepidlowski, both of West Allis; and Mrs. Calvin Steward, Semour; three sons; Floyd, Neenah; David, Ft. Carson, Colorado; and Daniel, Menasha; two brothers; Herman Ebben, Redondo Beach, California; and Ray Ebben, Menasha; 10 grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. from the Brown Funeral Chapel, Menasha, to St. Mary Cathloic Church, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. The Holy Name Society and the parish rosary will be at 8 p.m. Monday.

    Floyd M. Ebben, 1213 Henry St., Neenah, age 72, died Wednesday, March 10, 1993 at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center following a lingering illness. He was born July 25, 1920 in Mattoon, Wisconsin, the son of the late Frank and Rosella (Van Dyke) Ebben. He was a 1938 graduate of St. Mary High School, Menasha. Floyd married Dorothy J. Waskiewicz on December 27, 1941. He had been employed by Neenah Foundry Co. for 43 years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of their Quarter Century Club. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah, and an usher of the church; Knights of Columbus, Neenah Council; Retired Mens Fellowship; YMCA. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and VFW Post 10893 of Neenah.
    Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a daughter and son in-law; Joan and Ron Heinz, Bellevue, Nebraska; four sons and three daughters in-law; Thomas and Sherrill, Wichita, Kansas; Robert and Sharon, New Berlin; John and Mary, Neenah; Steve, St. Paul, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren, a great grandchild and brother and sister in-law, David and Beverly, Neenah; two sisters and a brother in-law, Lillian Platten, Black Creek; Ruth and Norbert Kropidlowski, Milwaukee.
    He was preceded in death by a sister, Vivian McNutt; and a brother, Dan. Services will be held Saturday, March 13, 1993 at 10:30 a.m. at the Kessler Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Rev. David R. Baeten officiating. Interment will be in St. Margaret Cemetery, Neenah.   • Note: Dorothy J. Ebben "Dot", 91, Neenah passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012, peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 4, 1921, in Neenah, daughter of Peter and Josephine Waskiewicz. Dorothy married Floyd M. Ebben December 27, 1941, at St. John Catholic Church, Menasha and he preceded her in death March 10, 1993. Mrs. Ebben was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and was very good at baking. She will truly be missed by her family and friends and all who knew her.

    Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 15, 2012, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 620 Division St., Neenah with Fr. Michael Ingold officiating. Interment will be in St. Margaret Cemetery, Neenah. Visitation will be Thursday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Dorothy's name.

    Dorothy's family wishes to thank the staffs of Theda Clark Medical Center, Villa St. Claire, and especially Oakridge Gardens for their caring and loving thoughtfulness during their mother's last few months.
