  • Note: Age 82, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2002 at the St. Paul Home. Alvina was born in Freedom on August 27, 1920, daughter of the late Henry and Kathleen (Weyenberg) Schommer. She was employed for many years by both Zwicker Knitting Mill in Appleton and the Appleton Woolen Mill. Alvina enjoyed knitting, other needlework, and hooking rugs. Working crossword puzzles and playing bingo consumed much of her free time during her stays at Americana Healthcare Center and St. Paul Home. She was a former member of the Kimberly TOPS Club, where she made many new friends and acquaintances.

    She is survived by her four dear sisters: Vivian Tuyls of Combined Locks, Mary Jane Allgeyer of Kaukauna, Lois (bob) Schmidt of Combined Locks, and Kay (Jerry) Sawlsville of Kaukauna. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Henry, Vernon, and Julian, a sister Connie (Tom) Hardy, and brothers-in-law Roland Tuyls, Robert Allgeyer, Francis Gordon, and Buzzy Boreson.

    The funeral liturgy for Alvina will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 30, 2002 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 119 W. 7th Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Robert Udulutsch, OFM officiating. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Freedom. Friends and relatives may call directly at the church on Monday from 9 AM until the hour of services.

    Vivian M. Tuyls, age 85, of Combined Locks, passed away Tuesday morning, October 14, 2008, following a short illness. She was born December 6, 1922, to the late Henry and Kathleen (Weyenberg) Schommer in Freedom and had been a Combined Locks resident since 1993. Vivian and Roland retired to the Rost Lake area and then returned to Combined Locks. She enjoyed bingo, crocheting, watching her birds and caring for her children.
    She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
    Vivian will be deeply missed by her 11 children: Judi (Harold) Micke, Crivitz; Patti (Ron) Fleming, Combined Locks; Bonnie Tuyls, Gillett; Tina (Rich) Betters, Sherwood; Roland Tuyls, Jr. "Butch", Appleton; Gary (Karri) Tuyls, Nanaimo, Vancouver, BC; Tim (Linda) Tuyls, Hollandtown; Brian (Pam) Tuyls, Kaukauna; Ron (Annette) Tuyls, Darboy; Greg (Brenda) Tuyls, Harshaw, WI; Dan (Kris) Tuyls, Sherwood; 22 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson; three sisters: Mary Allgeyer, Kaukauna; Lois Schmidt, Combined Locks; Kay Sawlsville, Kaukauna; two brothers-in-law: Robert Schmidt and Jerry Sawlsville.

    The funeral liturgy for Vivian will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2008, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 410 E. Wallace Street, Combined Locks, with Father Jim Lucas officiating.     Age 76, Died Wednesday, October 25, 1995 at the Colony Oaks Care Center following a lengthy illness. He was bovn July 8, 1919 in De Pere, son of the late William and Lillian [Vieu] Tuyls. Rollie served with the U.S. Marines during World War II. Roland married Vivian Schommer on June 26, 1940 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom. He had been employed at Kimberly Clark Kimberly Mill for 30 years retiring in 1976 and was then employed at Giddings and Lewis, Kaukauna for five years. One of Rollie's favorite pastimes was restoring antique Automobiles and he loved to dance. Rollie and his wife lived in the Kimberly/Darboy area until 1984 when they mover to Klondike and returned to Combined Locks in 1993. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Combined Locks and the Quarter Century Club of Kimberly Clark.

    He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Vivian; seven sons and daughters in-law; Roland Jr. and Karen Tuyls, Appleton; Gary and Karri Tuyls, Molalla, Oregon; Tim and Linda Tuyls, Combined Locks; Brian and Belinda Tuyls, Kaukauna; Ron and Annette Tuyls, Kimberly; Greg and Brenda Tuyls, Minocqua; Dan and Kris Tuyls, Sherwood; four daughters and two sons in-law, Judi and Harold Micke, Crivitz; Patti Schwaller, Combined Locks, and fiance Ron Fleming; Bonnie and Darold Meyers, Underhill; Tina Tuyls, Kewaunee and a special friend Jim McKuen; 24 grandchildren, four great grandchildren; a sister in-law, Grace Tuyls, Fond du Lac; numerous nieces and nephews. He is furthur survived by his wife's five sisters.

    He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Lloyd [Betty] Tuyls; four sisters; Louella [James] Stanton, Mildred Ziebarth, Gladys [William] Stika, Evelyn [Tony] Bayer.

    Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 1995 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Combined Locks with Fr. Robert Vandenberg officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Angels Cemetery, Darboy. Friends may call at the Jansen-Fargo Funeral Home, 204 E. Kimberly Ave. Kimberly from 4 until 9 p.m. on Friday and after 8:30 a.m. on Saturday until the cortege leaves for the church. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 :30 p.m. Friday. A memorial fund has been established in his name.

  • Note: Mary J. Allgeyer, 86, Kaukauna, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at the St. Paul Home, Kaukauna. She was born and raised on Dec. 14, 1924, in the Town of Freedom, daughter of the late Henry and Kathleen (Weyenberg) Schommer. On Sept. 18, 1947, Mary was united in marriage to Robert D. Allgeyer and the couple enjoyed 36 years of marriage prior to his death in 1983.

    Together they owned and operated Bob and Mary's Bar in Kaukauna until 1975, at which time they moved to California. Mary returned to Kaukauna in 1988. She was a dedicated Packers fan, loved to crochet and enjoyed traveling with her dear friend and companion, George Peebles. Along with her beautiful smile and her fun-loving personality, Mary touched so many people's lives.

    She is survived by her seven children, Jackie (Jerry) Skinner, Campbell, Calif.; Michael Allgeyer, Kaukauna; Colleen Allgeyer and life partner, Jim Melanson, Campbell, Calif.; Robert D. Allgeyer and life partner, Dan Goss, Fresno, Calif.; Patrick (Susan) Allgeyer, Appleton; Mary B. (Alan) Wouters, Appleton; and Kathleen (Dave) Vanden Bloomen, Kaukauna; six wonderful grandchildren, Rachel and Aaron Mattson, David Vanden Bloomen (fiancee, Amber Van Norman), Adrea Allgeyer, Ben Allgeyer (fiancee, Sara Ashline), Brett and Lindsay Allgeyer; seven beautiful great-grandchildren, Nicole and Erika Mattson, Alex Vanden Bloomen, Ava Schinke, Ella Wouters, Robert and Brayden Allgeyer; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois (Robert) Schmidt, Combined Locks; and Kay (Jerry) Sawlsville, Kaukauna. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

    Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Robert; three sisters, Alvina Schommer, Vivian (Roland) Tuyls and Connie (Tom) Hardy; and two brothers-in-law, Fran Gordon and Robert "Buzzy" Boreson.

    Funeral services for Mary will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2011, at the BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna, with the Revs. Rich Engle and Tom Deason officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Mary's name is being established.

    Mary's family would like to thank Pastors Rich Engle and Tom Deason for their kindness and friendship, as well as her many special loving and compassionate caregivers through the years.

    Cyril J. Weyenberg 'Cy' Rt. 2 Garvey Ave., Freedom, age 75, died early Sunday morning following illness. He was born July 7, 1904 in Freedom and had resided in Freedom for most of his life. Mr. Weyenberg was employed by the Outagamie County Highway Department, retiring approximately ten years ago. He formerly served on the Freedom High School Board of Education and the Freedom Town Board. Mr. and Mrs. Weyenberg celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary, August 29, 1979. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Freedom Golden Agers.

    Survivors include his wife, Christine Swinkles Weyenberg; three daughters; Mrs. Wilfred (Betty) Stilp, Mesa, Arizona; Mrs. Ray (LaVerne) Romenesko, Rt 3, Kaukauna; Mrs. Gary (Patty) Vande Wettering, Rt 4, Kaukauna; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

    Mr. Weyenberg was preceded in death by seven brothers, five sisters, and a granddaughter.

    The funeral will be at 12 noon Wednesday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom with the Rev. Leander Nickel officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Brettschneider-Trettin Funeral Home from 3-9 p.m. Tuesday and after 10 a.m. Wednesday until the cortege leaves for the church. A prayer service will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday.     Formerly of 11154 Garvey Ave., Kaukauna (Freedom), age 91, passed away in the presence of her family on Sunday, August 21, 1994. She was born July 25, 1903 in Little Chute, daughter of the late Arnold and Elizabeth (Verkuilen) Swinkles and had resided in the Freedom area all of her life. She was united in marriage to Cy Weyenberg on August 29, 1921 sharing 58 years together before his death in 1979. Stenie was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom, the Christian Mothers and the Freedom Golden Agers. She will be remembered as a special, caring person who took an interest in everyone she met.

    Survivors include three daughters and two sons in-law; Betty Stilp, LaVerne and Ray Romenesko, and Patty and Gary Vande Wettering, all of Kaukauna; eight granchildren; Donna (Dick) Vande Wettering, Maary Kay (Jim) Meulemans, Mike (Patti) Romenesko, Chris Romenesko, Jeff (Kathy) Vande Wettering, Debbie (David) Zunker, Scott (Diane) Vende Wettering, Laurie (Kevin) Veldman; 14 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild, also a special caregiver, Janice Trettin. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Besides her parents and husband,
    Stenie was preceded in death by three brothers; Jonn, Walter and Orville Swinkles; two sisters; Mary Van Dinter and Della Krueger, a grandson, Patrick Romenesko, a granddaughter, Jo Ann Romenesko, and a son in-law, Wilfred Stilp.

    The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom, with Rev. William Rickert officiating. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery.     Elizabeth (Betty) J. Stilp, age 82, Kaukauna, died Monday, September 12, 2005 at Parkside Care Center, Little Chute. She was born April 20, 1923 to the late Cy and Stenie Weyenberg. She married Wilfred Stilp on July 16, 1949 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom, WI.

    She is survived by a sister, Patty (Gary) Vande Wettering, Hollandtown; nieces and nephews: Jeff (Kathy) Vande Wettering, Deb (Dave) Zunker, Scott (Diane) Vande Wettering, Lauria (Kevin) Veldman, Donna (Dick) Vande Wettering, Kay (Jim) Meulemans, Mike (Patti) Romenesko and Chris Romenesko; several great-nieces and nephews.

LaVern resided most of her life in the Freedom area. SWhe was united in marriage to Ray Romenesko on September 1, 1945, sharing 53 years together. LaVerne was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church.

Ray was united in marriage to LaVerne Weyenberg on September 1, 1945, sharing 53 years together before her death on December 11, 1998. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in Europe. Ray will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who loved his family and who had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing cards with his brothers, including his "adopted" brothers and fishing with his buddies up north. Ray was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church of Freedom. Survivors include two daughters: Donna (Dick) Vande Wettering, Suring; Mary Kay (Jim) Meulemans, Freedom; two sons: Mike (Patti) Romenesko, Freedom; Chris Romenesko and his special friend, Barb Kolitsch, Green Bay; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Romenesko, Kaukauna; nine grandchildren: Jim Romenesko, Kevin (Lori) Skenandore, Joey (Tracy) Skenandore, Kelly Skenandore, Lori (Craig) Hansen, Lisa Meulemans and her fiancee, Ed Eastman, Kristi, Connie and Todd (Shari) Romenesko; three great-grandchildren: Taylor and Sierra Skenandore and Nathan Lang; seven brothers: Ken (Rose) Romenesko, Appleton; Orv (Issy) Romenesko, Freedom; Bob (Eunice) Romenesko, Kaukauna; Merle (Rose) Romenesko, Walworth; Jerry (Pat) Romenesko, Appleton; Clyde (Margaret) Romenesko; De Pere; Vernon (Barb) Romenesko; Appleton; two sisters-in-law: Betty Stilp, Kaukauna; Patty (Gary) Vande Wettering, Hollandtown. In addition to his parents and wife, Ray was preceded in death by a son, Patrick "Humper" Romenesko; a daughter, Joann Romenesko and sister, Arlene Vosters. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 12 noon Tuesday, June 6 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom with Father Dennis Ryan officiating. Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Monday and then at from 9 a.m. Tuesday until 11:30 at which time the cortege will leave for the church.   • Note: Patricia A. Romenesko, "Patti", Freedom, age 59, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2012 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on February 26, 1953 in the Town of Freedom to the late Willard and Grace (Vanden Heuvel) Daul. On April 14, 1972 she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Mike at St. Nicholas Church in Freedom. They recently celebrated their 40th anniversary. Patti loved to cook, going to the cottage and sitting by the fire. Loved seeing the deer the guys got during hunting season, playing cribbage, and also loved her family especially her grandchildren.

    She is survived by her husband, Mike; her three children: Connie (Scott) Murphy, Todd (Shari) Romenesko, and Kristy Pierce; six grandchildren: Rylie, Addison, Claire, Travis, Brandon, and Regan; two brothers: Bill (Grace) Daul and Larry (Mary) Daul; nine sisters: Jean (Orin) Peterson, Linda (Dan) Vosters, Betty (Mike) Moser, Vicky (Hank) Calmes, Geri (Dave) Ver Kuilen, Karen (Bob) Garvey, Diane (Scott) Zwiers, Cory Van Hoof (Friend Tom), and Lisa (Jeff) Ludwig. She is further survived by Mike's family: Donna (Dick) Vande Wettering, Mary Kay (Jim) Meulemans, Chris Romenesko, Carolyn Romenesko, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

    She was preceded in death by her parents: Willard and Grace Daul, a brother-in-law, Wayne Conrad; mother and father-in-law: Ray and LaVerne Romenesko; and brother and sister-in-law, Pat and JoAnn Romenesko.

    The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 Noon a.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at ST. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, W2037 Cty Rd S, Freedom with Fr. Dan Felton officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. concluding the evening.
