    Age 85, passed to her Heavenly home with her children all around her at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 1998. She was born of November 17, 1912 the youngest child of Martin and Harriet [Berghius] Van Handel. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute. Esther worked at home as a wife, mother and home maker. She enjoyed planting and caring for her flowers in the summer, creating beautiful crewel and embroidered pictures. When we would ask her what she enjoyed most the last year, she would say, 'praying her rosary'. Esther married Nicholas H. Hietpas on November 23, 1937.

    Survivors are her five children; three daughters; Betty Vandenberg, Darboy; Irene [Leo] Biese, Darboy; Pauline [Gerald] De Groot, Little Chute; two sons; Harley [Carol] Hietpas, Dan [Susie] Hietpas, both Little Chute; 21 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister; Genevieve Feldkamp, Kaukauna, a sister in-law; Rose Hietpas, Appleton; and many nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas in February 1994; a grandson, Joey H. Hietpas; a great granddaughter, Valerie Kay Biese; a great great grandson, Justin Vandenberg; two sons in-law, Gordon Luniak and Francis Vandenberg; four brothers and sisters in-law; Joseph and Kate Van Handel; George and Frances Van Handel; Barney and Verna Van Handel; Norbert and Zepora Van Handel; two sisters and brothers in-law; Ann and Fred Behling; Mary and Joseph Van Groll; a brother in-law; Norbert Feldkamp.

    Funeral Liturgy will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 1998 [today] at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute, with Rev. Msgr. Vanden Hogen officiating. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church Thursday from 3 p.m. to the time of the service. Verkuilen Funeral Home is assisting the family with arraingments.

He was born February 16th, 1904 in the town of Vandenbroek. Mr. Ebben had been employed as a millwright for the Kimberly Clark Corp.. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and Catholic Foresters of St. John's Catholic Church, Little Chute. He was a resident of Little Chute for the past 30 years. Survivors are his widow; five daughters, Mrs. Roger (Eunice) Verstegen, of Oshkosh, Mrs. Marvin (Sheila) Romenesko, of Little Chute, Mrs. Thomas (Ruth) Harp, of Appleton, Mrs. Jerome (Mary Ann) Gahl, of Forest Junction, Miss Elaine, at home, two sons, James and Allen both at home, three brothers, Chris and Edward, of Little Chute, and Arthur, of Kaukauna, three sisters, Mrs. Peter Janssen, of Kaukauna, Mrs. Bernard Van Zeeland, and Mrs. Ferdinand Bowers, both of Kaukauna, 16 grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. from St. John's Catholic Church, Little Chute, with Rev. Martin Vosbeek officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

    Miss Elaine Ebben

    Miss Elaine Ebben, 16 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Ebben, 828 W. Main Street, Little Chute, died Tuesday morning after a 6 month illness. She was a member of the Yong Ladies Society of St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute.

    Survivors are the parents; three brothers, James, Allen and Donald; four sisters, Eunice, Sheila, Ruth and Mary Ann, all at home; and her grandmother, Mrs. Mary Ebben, Little Chute.

    Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Friday morning at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. John J. Sprangers in charge. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Verkuilen Funeral home after 7 o'clock tonight. The rosary will be recited at 8:15 tonight and Thursday night.

    Hietpas, Rose A. Rose A. Hietpas, age 92, of Appleton, died on Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at Century Oaks in Neenah. Rose was born on August 5, 1914, in Little Chute, to the late George and Anna (Coenen) Janssen. She married Joseph Hietpas in Appleton, on May 28, 1938; he preceded her in death on August 29, 1965. Rose was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a longtime member of St. Therese Catholic Church and was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying cheering on the Green Bay Packers.

    Survivors include her sons: Marv (Polly) Hietpas, Appleton; Gary (Barbara) Hietpas, Appleton; Don (Kris) Hietpas, Appleton; her daughters-in-law, Rita (Gene) Wieczorek, Kimberly; and Kathy Hietpas, Appleton; her sister, Dorothy Schmidt, Appleton; her 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her sons, Bob Hietpas, and Rick Hietpas; her sisters: Ceil (John) Jaykoski, Mary (Melvin) Rettler, Clara (Art) Hinz, Alice (Herb) Smith; her brothers: Ben (Anne), Ray (Mae), and Rich Janssen; and her brother-in-law, Mike Schmidt.

    The Funeral Liturgy will be at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 2007, at ST. THERESE CATHOLIC CHURCH, Morrison Street at Wisconsin Avenue, Appleton, with Fr. William Hoffman officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday from 2:30 p.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute.

    The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at ThedaCare Hospice, the staff at Century Oaks and the staff at St. Paul Home for their loving care. A memorial has been established in her name to benefit St. Therese Catholic Church or ThedaCare Hospice Foundation.

    Richard G. Hietpas 'Rick' 1518 N. Rankin St., Appleton, age 43, loving husband, father, son, and brother, died suddendly at 2:43 p.m. Friday, February 28, 1986. He was born April 18, 1942, in Appleton, where he was a resident all of his life. He had been employed by the Hewitt Machine Co. for 22 years. Rick was very active in mens solfball leagues and past years and was also a coach for grade school basketball. He was a member for St. Therese Catholic Church.

    He will be sadly missed by his wife Rita (Van Handel) Hietpas; a daughter and two sons, Deena, David, and Dan, all at home; his mother, Rose Hietpas, Appleton; and four brothers and three sisters in-law, Bob and Kathy Hietpas, Marv Hietpas, Gary and Barb Hietpas, and Don and Kris Hietpas, all of Appleton.

    He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Hietpas, in 1965. The complete funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 3, 1986, at St. Therese Catholic Church with Father Don Zuleger officiating. Emtombment will in Highland Memorial Park.
    Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Supior St. from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday (tonight), and from 8 a.m. Monday until the cortege leaves for the church. The parish prayer and scripture service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday (tonight). A memorial fund is being established.

    Henry Arts, 702 N. Wilson St., Little Chute, age 76, died Friday afternoon after a lingering illness. He was born October 28, 1906, in DePere. He was an Assistant Chemist for the Institute of Paper Chemistry prior to hie retirement. He also woned and operated the Little Chute Theatre from 1948 unti 1960, and had worked part time for the Fox Valley Tool and Die. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.

    Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hietpas Arts; a daughter, Mrs. Vernon [Judith] Ehlke, Hortonville; a son, Alfred, Ridge Crest, California; and seven grandchildren.

    He was preceded in deathy by a brother and two sisters.

    The funeral was at 12 noon Saturday, at St. John Catholic Church, with Rev. Alfred Hietpas and Rev. Ray Hietpas concelebrating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. The Verkuilen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
