She was born in Clintonville on February 2, 1938 to the late Dewey and Elta (Zingler) Robbins. Joyce married Gordon "Butch" Hinkens on October 30, 1965 at Holy Name Parish in Kimberly. She enjoyed plastic canvas needle work, reading, cooking and spending time with family.

    Joyce is survived by her husband of 52 years, Gordon; children: Tom (Wendy) Hinkens of Appleton and Vicki Hinkens of Appleton; granddaughter, Janea Hinkens; and sisters and brother-in-law: Ilene Robbins and Harold (Mary Ellen) Hinkens. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her step father, Charlie Campbell; siblings: John (Nancy) Robbins, Jim Robbins; sisters and brothers-in-law: Emil, Delores (Richard) Coenen, Emil (Florence) Hinkens, Clarence (Aggie) Hinkens, Glady (Fred) Hammond, Joe (Margaret) Hinkens, Germaine (Gene) Weyenberg, Maryann (Bart) Vander Wielen and (Sam) Porto.

    Visitation will be held Friday, December 8, 2017 at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main St. Little Chute) beginning at 3:00 p.m. until time of Funeral at 5:00 p.m. Deacon Vincent De Groot will officiate. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.     She is survived by her children: Paula Vander Wielen, Alan (Barb) Vander Wielen, Linda (Eddy) Mongin, Tim Vander Wielen, Jay (Lynn) Vander Wielen, Sara Porto, and Sam Porto; a son-in-law: Mike Vander Zanden; nine grandchildren: Nicole Vander Wielen, Starr Cowling, Lynn (Alex Ennurah) Vander Wielen, Beth (Josh Jurrens) Vander Wielen, Althea (Todd) Vanevenhoven, Emilie Hofacker, Jason Vander Wielen, Brett Vander Wielen, and Mollie Snodgrass; seven great-grandchildren: Allison, Trey, Henry, Niara, Zilliah, Truth, Don-tae. Mary Ann is also survived by two brothers: Harold (Mary Ellen) Hinkens and Gordon "Butch" (Joyce) Hinkens, as well as many nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands: Salvatore "Sam" Porto and Albert "Bart" Vander Wielen, a daughter: Jill Vander Zanden; her brothers and sisters: Delores, Emil, Joe, Clarence "Cunny", Gladys, and Germaine.

    Please join the family as they gather to celebrate Mary Ann's life at 5:00 PM on Monday, July 13, 2015 at JACK RICHESON GALLERY, 557 Marcella Street in Kimberly. Sr. Annette Koss of Holy Spirit Parish will lead the service, and a reception will follow.

  • Note: Jill ("Beanie") Vander Zanden, (nee Vander Wielen) age 50, of Iola passed away peacefully Monday morning September 15, 2014, at St. Joseph's Hospital Marshfield.

    Jill was born in Appleton, Wisconsin to Mary Ann Hinkens -Vander Wielen- Porto and Albert Vander Wielen. She graduated from Kimberly High School in 1982, and University Wisconsin - Oshkosh majoring in Communication and Speech. One of the highlights of her college career was meeting President Jimmy Carter and writing the speech that he used when he addressed the UW-Oshkosh student body.

    Jill worked for years as a sales representative in the grocery industry for both brokers, direct corporate sales and for the American Heart Association coordinating fund raising. She was a volunteer for Operation Bootstrap, The Woman's Connection and The Lettie Jeansen Center Chocolate Festival. A perfectionist, Jill won numerous awards for her creativity, ingenuity and competitive nature.

    Jill loved life and led those around her in enjoying it. She had a great memory. Jill liked singing and dancing, and going to live concerts. One summer she attended five performances of Matchbox 20. Jill had an exceptional voice and accompanied by her guitar sang at weddings. She also sang karaoke, before a surgery took away her singing voice. She frequently bought gifts for others. Jill loved animals, especially her many dogs. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends.

    She married Mike Vander Zanden December 20, 1991. He survives. She is also survived by her mother and three sisters: Paula Vander Wielen, Linda (Eddy) Mongin, Sara Porto. Brothers, Alan (Barb McEwen) Vander Wielen, Tim Vander Wielen, Jay (Lynn) Vander Wielen, and Sam Porto. Mother and father-in-law, Marty and Vivian Vander Zanden, brother- in-law, Jeff (Bonnie) Vander Zanden, and sister-in-law, Julie Iris; 13 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and nephews and numerous loving friends. She was preceded in death by her father and stepfather Sam Berto.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; son, James; sister, Gladys; brother, Emil. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday from St. John Catholic Church with the Rev.     State Count 7 Highway Deaths During Weekend
    Richard J. Coenen, 50, 1443 Winneconne Drive, Fond du Lac, Sunday night became Calumet County's first traffic victim of the year when he was killed almost instantly after his car left State 55, about three miles south of Sherwood, and flipped over several times.
    The death of Coenen, and six others in a rash of weekend fatalitiies, raised to 167 the number of lives lost on Wisconsin highways in 1966. This compares with a 179 count a year ago today. All but one of the fatal accients occurred in eastern Wisconsin.
    Coenen, and his wife, elores, 52, former Little Chute residents, were thrown from their southbound car after it left the highway on a curve, nosed down an embankment and rolled over several time. Coenen, who was pinned under the car, died of a asal skull fracture, according to Calumet County Coroner . . .

    Formerly of Little Chute, age 50, passed following an automobile accident Sunday evening. He was born in Little Chute, March 18, 1916 and was employed at Giddings & Lewis Co. Fond du Lac, where he was an assistant service manager of the Electrial Division.

    Survivors are his wife, Delores; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George G. Coenen, Little Chute; four sons, Jack, Chicago; Jay, Little Chute; James, and Joseph, both at home; one brother, Andrew, Little Chute; four sisters, Mrs. Robert [Marian] Driessen, Kaukauna; Mrs. Clarence [Esther] DeBruin, Kimberly; Mrs. Robert [Leona] Stadler, and Mrs. Robert [Rose] Kavanaugh, both of Little Chute; three grandchildren.

    Age 68, died at 1:15 a.m. Monday, December 26, 1983. He was born September 22, 1915 in Little Chute. Mr. Hammen was employed by Giddings & Lewis for 33 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church and the American Legion Post No. 258. He had served in the US Air Force during World War II.

    Survivors include his wife, Carol Vander Velden Hammen; two daughters and a son in-law, Judy Lambries; Jenny and Mark De.     He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys in 1969; a grandson, Cole Hammen in 1978; his parents, Cornelius and Elizabeth Hammen; two brothers, Richard and Joe [Cully] and a sister, Helen Kurrash.

    The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Radetski officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Verkuilen Funeral Home from 5 until 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service. There will be an American Legion visitation at 7 p.m. Tuesday and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. There will be military rites immediately following the funeral mass.
