    Nicholas H. Ebben Sr. 1630 S. Jackson St., Appleton age 64, passed away Thursday evening. He was born February 23, 1906 in Freedom, Wi. He resided in Appleton most of his life and was formerly employed at the Riverside Paper Corp. for 42 years, retiring in 1969. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society and the Riverside 25 Year Club.

    Survivors include his wife, Florence; three sons, Robert N. Ebben, Appleton; Richard J., Detroit, Mi.; Nicholas T. Jr., Appleton; five daughters, Sister M. Jacqueline (Delores), Green Gay; Mrs. Gerald (Beatrice) Lemerond, Green Bay; Mrs. James (Beverly) Lewandowski, Menasha; Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Duhnke, Renton, Washington; Jacquelyn Frase, Botheil, Washington; six sisters, Mrs, Minnie Steffens, Appleton; Mrs. George (Rose) Schiebe, Freedom; Mrs. Harold (Mary) Sachs, Appleton; Mrs. Josephine Feabel, Appleton; Mrs. Jerome (Agnes) Hindel, Kaukauna; Mrs. Dora Steffens, Appleton; one brother, Joseph J. Steffens, Brandon, Florida; and 23 grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday at the Scraed Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brittschneider-Trettin Funeral Home after 2 PM Sunday until the time of services. There will be a prayer service Sunday at 8 PM at the funeral home.

    Ebben, Florence Susan (Hughes) Florence Susan (Hughes) Ebben, of Kaukauna, age 97, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2006. She was born August 9, 1909, in Freedom, WI, the second child of Owen and Abby (Fermanick) Hughes. Florence resided in Appleton most of her life after her marriage, in 1928, to Nicholas H. Ebben.

    She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Appleton. Florence resided at the St. Paul Villa in Kaukauna for the past six years of her life.

    She is survived by two sons: Robert N. and Nick Jr., both of DePere; four daughters: Beatrice (Gerald) Lemerond, Green Bay; Patricia Duhnke, Blaine, WA; Beverly (Larry) Decker, Loudon, TN; and Jackie (Bob) Murphy, Phoenix, AZ. Also surviving are two sisters: Lillian Segglink, Florence, WI; and Gertrude (Frank) Sprister, Appleton; three brothers: Leo (Marge) Hughes and Owen Hughes Jr., both of Appleton; and Tom; 24 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick (1970); a son, Richard (1972); a daughter, Sr. Jacqueline (2006); two brothers: Cliff Hughes and Harold Hughes; and a sister, Marge (Hughes) De Bruin.

    The Mass of Christian Burial will be noon on Saturday, December 16, 2006, at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 E. Fremont St., Appleton, with Fr. Robert Karuhn officiating. Friends will be received on Friday, December 15, 2006, at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna, from 3 p.m. until the 7 p.m. Parish Prayer Service, and again on Saturday, at Church, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.     Sister Jacquelyn Ebben Sister Jacquelyn Ebben, age 75, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, died Sunday afternoon, Aug. 20, 2006, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc.

    The former Dolores Ebben was born Feb. 3, 1931, in Appleton, daughter of Florence (Hughes) Ebben and the late Nicholas Ebben. She entered the Convent in 1945 and professed her vows in 1950. Sister Jacquelyn earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc. Sister Jacquelyn served as an elementary teacher at St. Paul and St. Andrew, Manitowoc, St. Anne, Francis Creek, St. Aloysius, Kaukauna, St. Joseph, St. Agnes and St. Bernard, Green Bay, SS Peter & Paul, Kiel, all of Wisconsin; Guardian Angels, West Point, Neb.; St. Francis de Sales, Manistique, Holy Name, Escanaba, both of Michigan; and St. Agnes, Mingo Junction, Ohio. After retiring from the teaching profession, she performed various tasks at the Motherhouse. She is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.

    Survivors include The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; her mother, Florence Ebben, Kaukauna; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Robert and Midge, Nicholas Ebben, De Pere; and four sisters and three brothers-in-law: Patricia Duhnke, Blain, Wash.; Beatrice and Gerald Lemerond, Green Bay; Beverly and Larry Decker, Loudon, Tenn.; and Jacqueline and Robert Murphy, Phoenix, Ariz. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

    Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem, with burial at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.

    The family will greet relatives and friends at the Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel.

    The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

  • Death: He died on October 29, 2012, at age 81, in Green Bay, Brown Co, Wisconsin.
  • Note: Gerald E. Lemerond, 81, Green Bay, died Monday evening October 29, 2012, at home after a brief illness. He was born July 24, 1931, in Winona, MN, to Earl and Louise Lemerond and later grew up in Wisconsin Rapids and Green Bay. Gerald graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1949 and was a Korean War Veteran, serving with the Army's 2nd Infantry Division as a B.A.R. Gunner, where he learned the life long lesson to "always carry plenty of ammunition".

    On June 4, 1954, Gerald went to work for the Green Bay & Western Railroad as a Locomotive Fireman and was promoted to Engineer on June 29, 1961, and retired on June 1, 1993 after 39 years of service. He was a strong union man and General Chairman for the United Transportation Union Local #720 representing enginemen.

    Gerald was active in conservation organizations, and the Garden Club. He enjoyed bicycling and bird watching.

    Gerald is survived by his wife, Beatrice; two sisters, Patricia and Kathleen and brother, Thomas and three sons and their families, Joe and Judy Lemerond and step-grandchildren, Mike and Jodi Boutott, Stormee and Steve Genz and Rayne and Skyler, Matt Boutott and Kimberly Dixon and Kylee, James and Vanessa Boutott and Adrianna and Alexander, and Greg and Shirley Lemerond and grandchildren, Jacquelyn and Joseph, Chris and Michelle Lemerond and grandson, Samuel.

    A good man who had talent for enjoying the simple pleasures; planting a tree, feeding the birds, a walk in his garden, the first ripe tomato, the arrival of the seed catalogs, the funny paper (Zitts and Pickles, his favorites), crossword puzzles, trips to Mackinac Island, reading The Town Crier. He was well respected, unfailingly polite and had a un-erroring memory. He loved the written and spoken word. He was a happy man when he had a glass of wine and a book in his hands. He was underappreciated but never felt that way. He enjoyed the many rides past, "The Ancient Land of the Lemerond's" on the shore of Duck Creek. He was a man who thanked his mother for the gift of life.

    Jim is survived, loved and will be missed by his children, Elizabeth Lewandowski, Wausau, Wis.; Michael (Connie) Lewandowski, Delafield, Wis.; and Kathleen Hamdan, Oshkosh; grandchildren, Natalie Lewandowski, Gage Lewandowski and Eyas Hamdan; sisters, Patricia Davel, Menasha; Judy (Cal) Deater, Santa Fe, N.M.; brother, Joseph (Patricia) Lewandowski, North Port, Fla.; other relatives and friends.

    Age 81, passed away Saturday, February 20, 1990 after being struck by an automobile while visiting her daughter, Janet Schreinen in Anaheim, California. Janet was also killed. She was born July 23, 1908 in Town of Freedom, and had been an Appleton area resident most of her life. Mary was an avid reader and enjoyed her walks. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers Society. She bowled for many years on Monday afternoon at Hahns Lanes.

    Survivors include a daughter and son in-law; Eunice and Carl Recker, Winneconne; two sons and a daughter in-law; Donald and Barbara, Woodstock, Georgia; Ken, Appleton; two sisters; Agnes Heindel, Kaukauna; Jospehine Feavel, Appleton; four sisters in-law; Florence and Sally Ebben, both of Appleton; Bernice and Laura Sachs, Seymour; 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; numerous brothers and sisters.
    The complete funeral will be Thursday, March 1 at 11 a.m. St. Therese Catholic Church with Father Daniel Gildsdorf officiating. Burial will be St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the Valley Funeral Home 2211 N. Richmond St. from 4 until 9 p.m. until the cortege leaves for the church. The prayer service will be 7:30 Wednesday evening.     Age 81, died unexpectedly in his sleep Saturday, June 27, 1987. He was born August 11, 1911 in the Town of Osborne. Mr. Sachs had been an Appleton resident most of his life, and was employed by Fox Tractor until his retirement in 1968. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church, and the 25 year Club of Fox Tractor.

    Survivors include his wife, Mary [Ebben] Sachs; two daughters and a son in-law, Janet Schreiner, Anaheim, California; Eunice and Carl Recker, Winneconne; two sons and a daughter in-law, Donald and Barbara, Kimberly; and Ken, Appleton; three sisters in-law, 12 grandchildren, four great grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

    The complete funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 1987 at St. Therese Catholic Church with Rev. Daniel Gilsdorf officiating. Burial will be in St. Joesph Cemetery. Friends may call at Valley Funeral Home, Appleton from 4-8 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the cortege leaves for church. Prayer and scripture service will be 7:30 p.m. Monday.
