    Bongers, Joseph L.


    Joseph Leonard Bongers, 78, died on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, at Appleton Medical Center with his family at his side. Joseph was born Feb. 5, 1927, in Little Chute, son of the late Henry and Nellie Bongers. He married Evelyn Vanden Heuvel Aug. 21, 1948, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. Following two years in the Military, Joe was employed by Kimberly-Clark (Mid-Tec), Kimberly, retiring in 1988. Later he and Evelyn served as tour escorts for Nationwide Travelers of Appleton. He was a member of Holy Cross Church and the Queen of Peace Choir.

    Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Evelyn; three daughters, Mary Carla (Patrick) Hansen, Green Bay; Melissa (Ron) Feldman, Little Suamico; and Elizabeth (Bernhard) Pisinger, Kaukauna; grandchildren, Michaela and Mitchell Pisinger and Nick and Holly Feldman. He is further survived by his brothers, Orville Bongers, Little Chute, and Bernard Bongers, Appleton; his sisters, Marie Huiting, Catherine Schumacher, and Rosella Van Dyke, all of Kaukauna; a brother-in-law, Nick Jansen, Little Chute; his wife’s family, Roy (Theresa) Vanden Heuvel, Darboy; Sister Estelle Vanden Heuvel, Manitowoc; Marlene (Karl) Sachs of Black Creek; AnnaMae (Charles) Fluegel, Oshkosh; and Sister Maria of Jesus, Iron Mountain, MI.

    In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by a sister, Lucina Jansen; brothers-in-law, Joseph Huiting, Martin Schumacher, and Emil Van Dyke; sisters-in-law, Barbara Bongers, Helen Bongers, and Wilma Bongers; and his wife’s parents, John and Agnes Vanden Heuvel.

    Funeral services will be on Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna. The family will receive guests from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Church foyer, followed by the Funeral Mass at 5 p.m.

    SERVICES FOR HARRY VERHAGEN HELD TUESDAY
    Funeral services were held Tuesday morning for Harry J. Verhagen, age 79, of Rt. 1, Kaukauna, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, with Rev. Roy Crain officiating. He passed away unexpectedly about 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning while attending a wedding celebration for his granddaughter. He was born March 28, 1892 in the Town of Grand Chute and was a life resident of the the Kaukauna area. He was a farmer at Rt. 1, and a member of the Holy Name Society of the Holy Cross Catholic Church.

    Survivors are his wife, Christine; three daughters, Mrs. Ervin (Ruth) Rosin, Mrs. Leone Vande Hey, Little Chute, Mrs. Eugene (Mary Jean) Van Lanen, Rt. 1, Kaukauna, three sons, Earl, Richard, and Paul, all of Rt. 1, Kaukauna. two brothers, Joseph, Little Chute, John, Seymour; two sisters, Mrs. George Weyenberg, Rt. 1, Kaukauna, Mrs. John Hietpas, Appleton; 35 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

    Two sons Joseph and Mark preceded him in death. Pallbearers for Harry Verhagen were; Eugen Rosin, David Verhagen, Jeffrey Verhagen, Marvin Vande Hey, Gary Vande Hey and Earl Vande Hey. Burial took place in St. John Cemetery in Little Chute. The Fargo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

    Funeral services for Mrs. Lee (Ellen Weyenberg) Deiler, 62, Evanston, Ill., who died at 5:45 Monday in Appleton, will be held in Little Chute. The cortege will form at the Verkiulen Funeral Home, Little Chute, and services will be held at 9 A. M. today at St. John's Catholic Church there. Mrs. Deiler was born July 21 1896, in Appleton, and had been staying there during a short illness.

    Survivors include one son, Robert, Appleton; three brothers, Burt, Joseph, and Frank Weyenberg, all of Appleton; and three grandchildren.

    Pat Weyenberg, 84, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at a local hospital. He was born in Appleton on June 11, 1919 to the late Ellen Weyenberg. On August 29, 1942, he married Virginia Burke. Shortly thereafter, he joined the Army Air Corps and served his country from 1942 to 1946. Pat was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Appleton and was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was employed as Manager of the Columbus Club in Appleton for 25 years. After his retirement from the Columbus Club, Pat enjoyed employment as a substitute crossing guard in Appleton and assisting 3rd Ward voters on election days at the polls located at Edison School. Pat was a life-long lover of animals, horses and dogs being his favorites. He was also an accomplished musician, playing classical violin as a youth as well as guitar and harmonica. He obtained his pilot’s license while in the military, but abandoned flying when be became a father. One of Pat’s greatest joys was spending time with his family. He enjoyed recalling tales from his early years growing up on the family farm and offering what his children refer to as “Pat-isms”. His strength of character, generosity, integrity and sense of humor will be sorely missed.

    Pat is survived by his children: William (Cheryl) Weyenberg, Michael (Denise) Weyenberg and Ellen (Gary) Hartzheim; and by his grandchildren: Todd (Deanna) Weyenberg, Jennifer (Marc) Smith, Lindsey Weyenberg and Nicole Weyenberg. He is further survived by his great-grandchildren: Kelsey Weyenberg, Grace Weyenberg, Connor Smith and Olivia Weyenberg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ginny.

    A private service for Pat was held at Valley Funeral Home on Saturday, October 18, 2003. Entombment is at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton.
    A memorial fund has been established at St. Vincent Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Green Bay.

    Virginia M. Weyenberg 'Ginny' age 78 of Appleton, died Sunday, July 25, 1999 born July 4, 1921, the daughter of James and Freida (Hoppe) Burke. On August 29, 1942 she was united in marriage to Robert 'Pat' Weyenberg.

    Virginia is survived by two sons, William (Sheri) of Ashwaubenon, and Mike (Denise) of Appleton; one daughter, Ellen (Gary) Hartzheim of Appleton; two sisters, LaVerne (George) Denu of Beloit, and Nancy (John) Straw of Minocqua; four grandchildren, Todd (Deanna) Weyenberg, Jennifer (Marcus) Smith, Lindsey Weyenberg and Nicole Weyenberg; three step sisters, Rosie Murphy, Sparkey VanderLinden and Darla (Kurt) Cota and many other relatives and friends.

    She is preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Smothers and Alice Pruitt; three brothers, Jim, Tom, and Kenny Burke; Step parents Agnes and Norris Illgen and a step brother George Fickle.

    Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 1999 at Valley Funeral Home, Appleton with Sister Joann Geossl O.S.F. officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Valley Funeral Home and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund is being established.

    Mike passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2014. He was born on April 5, 1951, in Appleton, to Robert "Pat" and Virginia "Ginny" Weyenberg. He found his soulmate in Denise Dzanbazoff, and they were married on July 6, 1979. Mike loved to race at the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) tracks under number "57" and took first place in his division in 2009. Mike was an avid Packers fan and enjoyed deer hunting, playing pool, and "tinkering" on his race car. His biggest joy, however, was spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

    Mike served his country in the Air Force and was honorably discharged.

    Mike was a generous and gregarious man; always there with a handshake and a smile. He made friends easily wherever he went.

    Mike is survived by his wife of 35 years, Denise; his daughter, Lindsey Weyenberg and her children, Olivia and Janeeva; and his daughter, Nicole (Jason) Mattson and their children, Sidney, Kenna, and Trenton. He is also survived by his brother; Bill (Sheri) Weyenberg; his sister, Ellen (Gary) Hartzheim; his mother-in-law, Katherine "Rose" Dzanbazoff; sister-in-law, Stephanie (Tom) Knorr; and his brother-in-law, Ben (Julie) Dzanbazoff. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, with special mention of his cousin, Larry Burke, and his nephew, Michael Knorr.

    Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Steve Dzanbazoff.

    A visitation will be held at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond Street, Appleton, on Saturday, January 3, 2015, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m., followed by full military honors.

    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
