    Services Friday At Kimberly For Martin Van Asten

    Funeral services for Martin J. [Mike] Van Asten formerly of Freedom, were at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Kimberly with the Rev. Dean Dombroski officiating. Interment was in St. Nicholas Cemetery. Mr. Van Asten died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon May 10. He was 86. He was born December 31, 1891 in Freedom and had lived and farmed there until his retirement in 1946.

    Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Joseph [Barbara] Van Gompel, and a son, Melvin both of Kimberly; a brother William of Little Chute; a sister, Mrs. Anna Murphy of Kaukauna; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Johanna; and two sons, Clayton and Raymond. Pallbearers were Marvin, Melvin, Mike and Richard Van Asten, Robert Van Gompel, and Elzear Biese.
    The Greenwood Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

    Mrs. Cahterine Biese, 50, Rt. 2, Seymour, died Thursday afternoon agter a long illness. She was born May 8, 1898 in the Town of Freedom.

    Funeral services will be held at 9:30 Monday morning at St. John Catholic Church, Seymour, of which the deceased was a member. The Rev. Adam Grill will be in charge, and burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kaukauna.

    Friends may call at the Muehl Funeral Home, Seymour, after 7 o'clock Saturday evening. The rosary will be said there at 8 o'clock Saturday and Sunday evenings.

    Survivors three daughters, Jane of Appleton and LaVerne and Kathleen at home; four sons, Elzer, Donald, Robert and Marvin, all of Rt. 2, Seymour; three brothers, Henry, Martin and William Van Aster, all of Freedom; two sisters, Mrs. Patrick Murphy of Freedom and Mrs. George Gerritts of Oneida; and two grandchildren.

    Martin Van Camp Family Heritage Home, Appleton Formerly of Little Chute

    Age 89, passed away at 11:50 p.m. Monday. He was born January 31, 1883 in Freedom. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club of the Kimberly Clark Corporation for which he was employed for 38 years prior to his retiremene.

    Survivors include two sons, Richard, San Diego, California; James, St. Louis; one sister, Mrs. Mary Van Dyke, Little Chute; two step sisters, Mrs. John Bleier, Appleton; Mrs. Nellie Squiers, Combined Locks; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. His wife Minnie preceded him in death in 1949.

    Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday from St. John's Catholic Church, Little Chute, with interment in the parish cemetery, Rev. Norbert Vande Loo will officiate. Friends may call at the Verkuilen Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Wednesday. There will be a prayer service at 8 p.m.

    Mrs. Louis Vosters (Josephine Neugebauer)

    fornerly of 730 W. Franklin St., age 102, passed away at 5:30 a.m. July 27, 1996. She was born in Appleton on September 27, 1893, the daughter of the lat Wenzel and Elizabeth (Wolter) Neugebauer. Josephing was united in marriage to Louis Vosters on June 2, 1920, sharing 47 years together before his death in 1967. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Ladies of St. Joseph. She loved playing bingo and cards, and crocheted up until nine monthes ago.

    Survivors include three daughters; Evelyn (Francis) McGuire, Little Chute; Marian (Earl) Vande Bogart, Appleton; Arlene (Jerome) Van Handel, Oshkosh; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.

    Besides her parents and husband, Josephing was preceded in death by a son, Robert, four sisters; Laura Raatz, Mary Courtney, Margaret Meier, and Agnes Holloran, also two brothers; Peter and Arnold Neugebauer.The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 1996 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 404 W. Lawrence St., with the Rev. John Holly officiating. Bruial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church from 10 a.m. Tuesday til the time of service. A memorial fund has been established.

    Clarence Bachmann, 1516 N. Bennett St., Appleton, age 80, died unexpectedly at 3 a.m. Sunday. He was born January 26, 1898 in Chicago. He had been employed by the Appleton Police Department prior to his retirement.
    Survivors include his wife, Anna Marie Vosters Bachmann; two daughters; Mrs. Jay (Grace) Wells, Appleton; and Mrs. Kenneth (Anna Marie) Gresen, Three Lakes; a son, Bob, Appleton; three grandchildren, two great grandchildren.
    The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Verkuilen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Klingeisen officiating. Interment will be in St. Johns Cemetery, Little Chute.     Survivors include her husband Earl J.; two daughters and sons in-law, Eunice and Edwin Ellefson, Shiocton; Nancy and Bob Van Landghen, Appleton; two sons and daughters in-law, Glen and Nancy Peters, Don and Sandy Frederick, Appleton; three brothers, Clyde Voster, Neenah; Vernon and Herbert, both of Appleton; two sisters, Mrs. Myles [Lomie] Anderson, Kenosha; Esther Bartles, Kaukauna; ten grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her first husband, Sylvester Peters; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Voster. Priviate family services were held Monday at the Valley Funeral Home, with Rev. Richard Brenner officiating. Entombment followed at Highland Memorial Park. There was no visitation.

    Age 70, died Sunday, December 10, 1995 st the Vallhaven Care Center. Clyde was born April 26, 1925 in Kimberly, Wisconsin, son of the late Herman and Agnes [Schus] Voster. Clyde was married to Janice Heckner on June 3, 1946 at the St. Patrucj Catholic Church, Menasha. Clyde was a Fex Valley resident most of his life where he farmed in the Town of Osborn and later was employed with the H. Schabo & Son Ready Mix Plant, the Medwest Perlite Plant, all of Appleton; later with the Schuls Haull Inc., Neenah. Clyde owned and operated his own concret construction comepany of Little Chute for 10 years. He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Neenah.

    He is survived by his wife, Janice; a son, Thomas Voster, Little Chute; two sisters; Esther Bartels, Kaukauna; Leona Anderson, Kenosha; two brothers; Vernon [Ruth] Voster, Herbert Voster, both of Appleton; a brother in-law, Earl Frederick, Appleton; and a mother in-;aw, Mary Heckner, Neenah.

    Clyde was also preceded in death by a sister, Marie Frederick. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 13, 1995 at 11:45 a.m. from St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Neenah with co-celebrants; Richard L. Allen and John Schuh officiating. Entombment will be in the Star of Hope Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Westgir Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. with a prayer service to be held at 7:30 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.

    Bartels, Esther

    Esther Bartels, Kaukauna, Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma, age 69, died on Wednesday June 2, 2004 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 4, 1934 to the late Herman and Agnes (Schuh) Voster in Freedom, WI. Esther married Robert Bartels in 1951. He preceded her in death on December 28, 1981. She worked at Kaukauna Community Hospital, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and Home Instead Senior Care, Inc. She enjoyed going to the cottage, attending movies and concerts, and showering her grandchildren with love.

    She is survived by her children: Robert (Gail) Bartels, Kaukauna; Gary Bartels, Neenah; Ken (Jennifer) Bartels, Appleton; Sandra Bartels, Kaukauna; Dan (Lori) Bartels, Darboy; Diedra (Vince) Krueger, Stratford; grandchildren: Donna Allen, Mark (Tammi) Bartels, Amy Bartels, Jennifer Bartels, Travis Bartels, Bruce Bartels, Sara Bartels, Amanda Bartels, Nicole Bartels, Trever Krueger and Alexander Krueger; great grandchildren, Nathan Allen and Taylor Bartels. She is further survived by a sister, Leoma, her sisters-in-law, Janice and Ruth; her brother-in-law, Earl Fredrickson and special friend, Marge Bartels.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert, two granddaughters: Melissa and Bobby Jo Bartels, three brothers: Clyde, Vern and Herbert, her sister Marie and a brother-in-law, Myles Anderson.

    The funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 5 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street Kaukauna with Fr. Jack Mullarkey officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday at Church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna is assisting the family.

    Herbert H. Voster Appleton

    Age 59, died on Monday, August 2, 1999 at the Outagamie County Health Center. He was born in Freedom on February 24, 1940 to the late Herman and Agnes (Schuh) Voster.

    He is survived by a brother, Vernon (Ruth) Voster, Appleton; sisters: Leoma Anderson, Kenosha; and Esther Bartels: Kaukauna: sister-in-law: Janice Voster, Neenah; Nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

    In addition to his parents, Herbert was preceded in death by a sister Marie Frederick, brother Clyde Voster, brothers-in-law, Robert Bartels and Myles Anderson.

    The funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, August 4, 1999 at 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St. with Father Bill Barta and Monsignor John Schuh officiating. The visitatioin will be on Wednesday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
    The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Outagamie County Health Care Center and also Father Bill Barta for all of their kindness and care. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial has been established. Valley Funeral Home 2211 N Richmond St.

    Formerly of Cecil St., Neenah. Age 83, died early Sunday morning. She was born February 22, 1900 in Grand Chute, Wisconsin. The daughter of Walter and Mary Hendricks Thyssen. She was married to Henry July 6, 1921. Mrs. Van Oudenhoven was a Neenah resident since 1935. She was a member of St. Margaret-Mary Catholic Church, Neenah, the Third Order of St. Francis. She was a former resident of Keen-Agers of Oneida under the direction of Sr. Goretti.

    Survivors include a daughter and son in-law, Mary Jane and Donald Vought, Neenah; six sons and five daughters in-law, Robert and Marian, Eugene and Blanche, Gerald and Lorie, Marvin and Donna, all of Neenah; Herbert and Janet, Winneconnie; Steven and a friend, Carol Olson, Neenah; three sisters, Sister Ann, Racine; Mrs. John [Gert] Linskens, Appleton; Mrs. Paul [Ethel] Hietpas, Coleman, Wisconsin; two brothers, Martin Thyssen, Neenah; Raymond Thyssen, Appleton; 21 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Henry, October 1970; a grandson, Gardner Vought, June 1962; a sister, Catherine Plutz; five brothers, John, Nickels, William, Arnold and George Thyssen.

    Funeral service will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. at the Westgor Funeral Home, 11 a.m. St. Margaret-Mary Catholic Church, Neenah with Rev. Msgr. Eugene F. Hotchkiss officiating. Interment will be in St. Margaret-Mary Cemetery, Neenah. Friends may call at the Westgor Funeral today [Monday] from 4 until 9 p.m. with the prayer service at 8 p.m.

    Nicholas Thyssen Found in Bathroom Of Home by Son
    Nicholas Thyssen, 53, route 3, Appleton, took his own life by shooting in the bathroom at his home sometime between 11 o'clock in the morning and 1 o'clock Monday afternoon, Coroner Bernard H. Kemps said today. A 22-caliber rifle was found beside his body.
    Thyssen had been in poor health for several months. His body was found by a son, Kenneth, 18, who went upstairs to change clothes after returning home from school. There will be no inquest.
    undersheriff Robert Heinritz assisted Kemps in the investigation.
    Thyssen was last seen alive about 9 o'clock Monday morning. He was employed by the Wisconsin Michigan Power company, but had Monday and today off.
    Survivors in addition to his wife are his mother, Mrs. Mary Thyssen, Little Chure; three daughters, Mary, Joan and Betty, at home; three sons, John, Kenneth and Gerald, at home; five brothers, Arnold, William, Feorge and Raymond, Appleton, and Martin, Neenah; and five sisters, Mrs. John Linskens, Appleton, Mrs. Harold Merbach, route 1, Menasha; Mrs. Paul Hietpas, Little Chute; Mrs. Henry VanOudenhoven, Neenah, and Sister Mary Ephreum, Madison.
    Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Thursday morning at St. Therese Catholic church, Appleton with burial in St. John's cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call after 7 o'clock this evening at the Ellenbecker Funeral home, Appleton, where the rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock tonight and Wednesday night.

    Age 76, died at 1:20 a.m. Saturday after a brief illness. He was born January 5, 1904 , in Litte Chute and lived in Appleton during the past 51 years, 44 of which he was employed by Consolidated Papers Inc.

    He is survived by his wife Eleanor (Tilly ) Thyssen; one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Carol) Lichtfuss, Appleton; one son, James W. Thyssen, Appleton; three brothers, Arnold, Oneida; Martin, Neenah, and Raymond, Route 3, Appleton; five sisters, Mrs. Henry (Josephine) Van Oudenhoven, Oneida; Sister Ann, Racine; Mrs. John (Gertrude) Linskins, and Mrs. Lester (Catherine) Plutz, both of Appleton, and Mrs. Paul (Ethel) Hietpas, Little Chute; nine grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.

    Complete funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Tuesday from St. Thomas More Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gerald Falk officiating. Friends may call at the Whichmann Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. Monday and after 8 a.m. Tueday until the cortege leaves for the church. A prayer and scripture service will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday. A memorial fund has been established for the Cancer Care Unit at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
