    Little Chute

    Age 98, died Thursday, January 10, 2002 at Parkside Care Center, Little Chute. She was born June 27, 1903 in Appleton. Ruth married Peter Langedyke in May, 1933 and he preceded her in death in August, 1972.

    Ruth is survived by her son, Dr. Kenneth (Bonnie) Shannon, Pardeeville four grandchildren: Peter (Terry) Shannon, Lafayette, Colorado Mary (Jim) Rusch, Portage Tricia Moran, Milwaukee Thomas (Susan) Shannon, DeForest nine great-grandchildren a sister-in-law, Mildred Langedyke a cousin, Gladys Huhn and special friends and neighbors: Ray (Theresa) Bongers, Arlene Lamers, and Alva Wildenberg.

    Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2002 at the Verkuilen Funeral Home, Little Chute with Deacon Vin De Groot officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. Friends may call at the Verkuilen Funeral Home on Saturday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.

Kenneth W Shannon

  • Note: PARDEEVILLE — Dr. Kenneth C. “Doc” Shannon passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, after a short time at Remington House after a courageous battle with cancer.

    He was born in Appleton, on Aug. 24, 1924. Kenneth attended St. John’s Grade School and High School in Little Chute. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran serving from 1943 to 1946. He married Eunice Donskey on July 6, 1946. They were married for 66 years.

    He attended St. Norbert College in De Pere, and graduated from Marquette Dental School in 1952. He practiced dentistry for 43 years in Pardeeville, during which time he was a member of the Columbia, Dodge and Marquette dental societies, as well as the Wisconsin Dental Society and the American Dental Association.

    He served as Faithful Navigator of the area Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Order and was a member of the American Legion Post 215 in Pardeeville for more than 50 years, where he served as their chaplain.

    Kenneth spent a lifetime of being a faithful servant. He volunteered at Divine Savior Hospital and delivered Meals on Wheels for several years. He was also a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Pardeeville, where he served as a Eucharistic minister, usher, reader and Mass server.

    One of his favorite hobbies was remote controlled airplanes which he built, flew, crashed and repaired, in that order. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and his antique auto, a 1967 Mustang.

    A Mass of Christian burial for Ken will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Pardeeville, where he so faithfully served. The Rev. David Greenfield will preside. Full military rites will be conducted by the Pardeeville American Legion and VFW Posts. Burial will follow at Pardeeville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church.

    He is survived by his wife, Eunice, his best friend, without whose unwavering encouragement and support he would not have become a dentist. He is also survived by four children, Peter, Mary (Jim), Tricia and Tom (Sue); nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

    Memorials can be made to St. Mary Catholic Church in Pardeeville.

    The family would also like to thank Dr. Whiting, the staff and physicians at UW Hospital and Divine Savior Healthcare, Home Health United Hospice Care, as well as the entire staff at Remington House for their kindness, care and support.

    SODA SPRINGS — Lucille Helen Diehl Langedyke, 90, of Soda Springs, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2001, at the Caribou Memorial Living Center. She was born March 27, 1910, at Sherwood, Wisconsin, the daughter of Fred and Helen Merkley Diehl.

    She married Nicholas W. Langedyke November 12, 1931, at Appleton, Wis. Mr. Langedyke passed away April 11, 1994.

    Lucille was raised and educated in Outagamie County and high school in Appleton. She had also lived at Grandchute, Wis., and St. Petersburg, Fla. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Soda Springs.

    Her hobbies included hunting, fishing, painting and extensive traveling.

    She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Helen Langedyke, Soda Springs; four grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; also a sister, Viola Schmitzer, Menasha, Wis. She was preceded in death by a grandson, four brothers and two sisters.

    Funeral Mass will be conducted on Monday, March 26, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Soda Springs. Visitation and rosary will be Sunday, March 25, at 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

    In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Soda Springs. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
