    Joseph W. Brown, 64, 515 W. Wisconsin avenue, a former member of the Outagamie county board, died at 9 p.m. Monday at his home after a long illness. He was born Oct. 10, 1894, in Kaukauna, and lived in Appleton since 1921.
    Brown, an insurance man and a former pressman at the Post-Crescent, served on the county board from 1942 to 1957. during that time he served on the education, sanatorium, general accounts, legislative, ordinance, courts and administration of justice, and public property and insurance committees.
    He was a past chief ranger and a field representative for the Catholic ORder of Foresters.
    Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning at St. Therese Catholic church with burial in Holy Cross cemetery, Kaukauna. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at the Ellenbecker Funeral home where friends may call after 4 p.m.
    survivors include his wife; two daughters, MRs. Charles Towland, Appleton, and Mrs. O. D. McDowell, Arlington, Va.; two sons, Carl, Appleton, and Joseph, Jr., Milwaukee; four brothers, William, Sylvester, Elmer, all of Kaukauna, and Walter, California; five sisters, Mrs. Alvin Ploetz, Mrs. Simon Vanden Huevel, Mrs. Loyal Schmalz, all of Kaukauna, Mrs. Ann Liethen and Mrs. George Kreylling . . .

  • Note: Age 90, passed away Monday, February 05, 2001 at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna. Dorothy was born in Uden, The Netherlands on January 6, 1911, daughter of the late Henry and Johanna (Van Driel) Van Nuland. On June 12, 1934, she married Tony Eltink in Kimberly. He preceded her in death in 1992. Her entire way of life revolved around caring for others. Whether caring for family, friends, or neighbors, her selfless ways will long be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

    Survivors include four daughters: Joan (Robert) Kearn of Amberg, Jean (Francis) Jaeckels of Appleton, Dorothy Vander Velden of Menasha, and Sandy (David) Coenen of Oshkosh; a son: Peter (Mary Ann) Eltink of New Holstein; nine grandchildren: Jennifer Eltink, Tony Eltink, Amy (Mike) Fasthorse, Donald (Minda) Kearn, Peter Kearn, Tony (Lori) Vander Velden, Tom (Kelly) Vander Velden, Pam (Marlyn) Evenson, and Cara Coenen; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters: Marie Bongers of Kimberly and Theresa (Donald) Lamers of Zephyr Hills, Florida; three sisters-in-law: Marie Van Nuland of Kimberly, Laura Van Nuland of Milwaukee, and Nellie Van Nuland of Kimberly. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and by other relatives and many friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tony in 1992, by sisters Catherine (Leo) Vander Putten, Anna (Clarence) Doerfler, and Cora (Bud) Ruppel, and by brothers John Van Nuland, Jacob (Verna) Van Nuland, Harry (Ethel) Van Nuland, Maurice (Loretta) Van Nuland, Mart Van Nuland, and Joseph (Dorothy) Van Nuland.

    The funeral liturgy for Dorothy will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, February 8, 2001 at HOLY NAME CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday at the funeral home from 4 – 8 PM and again Thursday at the church from11 AM until the hour of the liturgy. There will be a parish prayer and scripture service at 7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

    Menasha

    Age 63, died peacefully at Cherry Meadows Hospice on August 18, 2002. Dort was born in Portage, Wisconsin on December 9, 1938 daughter of the late Tony and Dorothy (Van Nuland) Eltink. A longtime Kimberly resident, she recently retired from the Appleton City Clerk's Office.

    Dort spent much of her time playing with her grandchildren, keeping up on the Packers and other Wisconsin sports, and enjoying her family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.

    Dort will be deeply missed by two sons and their families: Tony (Lori) Vander Velden, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Tom (Kelly) Vander Velden, Appleton grandchildren: Arjay, Eileen, Owen, Nate and Katie a brother, Peter (Mary Ann) Eltink, New Holstein three sisters: Joan (Robert) Kearn, Amberg Jean (Francis) Jaeckels, Appleton and Sandy (David) Coenen, Oshkosh. She is further survived by several nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

    Dorothy and her family would like to thank all those who helped make her last months special including her extended family and friends, staff of Cherry Meadows Hospice and Dr. John Allhiser. Thank you also to the doctors, nurses and staff at Appleton Medical Center, Theda Care at Home and the Larsen Winchester Lions Club.

    A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at the Valley Funeral Home. The family will receive well-wishers from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

    In lieu of flowers, Dort's family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the VNA Community Hospice Foundation (Cherry Meadows) to support their wonderful work.
