    Martha P. De Bruin

    Passed away at St. Paul Home, Friday, September 23, 2005 at the age of 93. She was born April 30, 1912, in the Town of Vandenbroek, daughter of the late Martin and Catherine [Verbeten] Diedrich. Martha married Alvin 'Al' De Bruin on June 29, 1937 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1989. Martha was employed at Essential Products in Little Chute for 25 years and retired in 1976. She enjoyed crocheting, golf and bowling. Martha found much peace in her faith and was a member of Holy Cross Church, Kaukauna, where she was a member of the Altar Society, distributed communion and was a prayer partner.

    Survivors include her son, Dennis [Carol] De Bruin, Kaukauna; two grandchildren, Scott [Chris] De Bruin, Kaukauna; and Tim [Heather] De Bruin, Prairie Du Chein; three great grandchildren, Jacob, Jarret and Jackson; two sisters, Catherine Baumgart and Germaine Blair; brothers and sisters in-law, Ann Diedrich, Cal De Bruin, Carl [Grace] De Bruin, Betty [Rich] Meulemans, Cliff Weyers and Gloria De Bruin.

    In addition to her husband and parents, Martha was preceded in death by seven brothers, Steve [Clara,], Ray [Minnie], Lester, [Virl], John [Gladys]. Victor [Ruth], Florian [Marie], and Austin Diedrich; three sisters, Gertrude [Ralph] De Broux, Anna [Al] Nieling and Dorothy [John] Shillcox; brothers and sisters in-law, Bill Baumgart, Jerome Blair, Joan De Bruin, Mary Lou Weyers, Fritz De Bruin and Mildred Smith.

    Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, September 26, 2005 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna with the Rev. Jack Mullarkey officiating. Friends may call at the church from 3 p.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will be at the parish cemetery. A memorial has been established.

    The marriage of Miss Martha Diedrich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Diedrich, route 1, Kaukauna, and Alvin De Bruin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert De Bruin, 1108 Desnoyer street, Kaukauna, took place this morning at 9 o'clock at St. John church, Little Chute. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. John J. Sprangers and the attendants were Miss Anna Diedrich, sister of the bride, bridesmaid, Miss Elmira Arnoldussen of Freedom, maid of honor, Raymond De Bruin, brother of the bridegroom, best man, Oril Milton and Edward Maul, Kaukauna, ushers, Mary Lou and Mary Alice De Bruin, sisters of the bridegroom, flower girls. Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served to 70 guests at the Diedrich home and in the evening the couple will be honored at a dance at the Nightingale ballroom. After a trip to northern Wisconsin Mr. and Mrs. De Bruin will reside in Kaukauna.

  • Marriage: She and Carl Peter DeBruin were married on July 28, 1945 in St John Nepomucene Church, Little Chute, Wisconsin.
  • Death: Grayce Marie VanSchindel died on January 26, 2013, at age 87.
  • Burial: She was buried in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna, Wisconsin.
  • Note: Grace De Bruin, age 87 passed away at Grand Horizons in Kimberly on January 26, 2013. Grace was born in the town of Freedom on December 3, 1925, daughter of the late Martin and Catherine (Diedrich) Van Schindel. On July 28, 1945, she married Carl De Bruin at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute; he preceded her in death in 2010 after sixty-four wonderful years together. In her early years, Grace was self-employed as a seamstress. Her specialty was bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses. She will be remembered as a faithful volunteer for Meals on Wheels, belonged to the Afternoon Homemakers' Club, the Fox Valley Spinning Guild, served as the den mother for three different Boy Scout Troops, and was instrumental in starting the Reach for Recovery Program in Outagamie County where she served for twenty years. Grace was a very creative woman, as everyone recognized from her baking, spinning, quilting, sewing, and egg art. She and Carl were longtime and faithful members of Holy Cross Church in Kaukauna. There, Grace was a member and Past President of the Christian Mothers' Association and volunteered as a lector and Eucharistic minister. She also enjoyed bowling and golf in her younger years.

    Grace is survived by her four children: Mark (Nora) De Bruin of Combined Locks; Kristen De Bruin of Kaukauna; Philip (Maryann) De Bruin of Rome, New York; Neil (Stephen) De Bruin of Key West, Florida; there are also four grandchildren: Jay (Deanna) De Bruin, Jeffrey (Kelly) De Bruin, Daniel De Bruin, and Mae De Bruin; and four great-grandchildren: Ryan, Aaron, Brayden, and Grayson. There are also a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law: Ralph Meuelmans and Betty and Richard Van Wychen, all of Kaukauna. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl, grandsons Jason and Brian, three sisters: Ida (Peter) Ver Voort, Alice (Bernard) Viane, and Rosalia (Francis) VonDracek; a brother: Clarence (Florence) Van Schindel; and several in-laws: Mildred and Gerald Smith, Alvin and Martha De Bruin, Mae De Bruin, Raymond and Honey De Bruin, Frederick and Gloria De Bruin, Ruth and Nick Geurtz, Mary Alice Meulemans, Mary Louise and Cliff Weyers, and Clarence and Joan De Bruin.

    The funeral liturgy for Grace will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna. Fr. Thomas Pomeroy will officiate. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday morning from 9:30 AM until the hour of the mass.

    Grace's family would like to extend their special thanks to the staff at Grand Horizons in Kimberly as well as to everyone at ThedaCare At Home Hospice. We will never forget the kindness you have shown to our family.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Kaukauna...Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery, Kaukauna.
